Go for a wonderful art museum experience. The collection is surprisingly impressive. The buildings are art treasures as well. Give yourself time to soak it all in.

This is not a huge museum, nor is it comprehensive. However, it is possible to get a reasonable look at their exhibits in 60-90", which worked for us. It is not overwhelming, but neither is it a disappointment. A number of major artist's works are...More

We enjoyed our recent visit. They had pretty extensive exhibit of contemporary art plus very focused collection of most 20th century American art. The collection isn't deep but they have 1 or 2 paintings from several different notable artists. Entry is free but leave a...More

This should be a stop on every visitors stay in Des Moines. Choices are limited but always good. Lunch on the patio is perfect in good weather.
