Quiet and a little cold.....go there for a run or for inspiration. Bike trails connects Downtown and west Des moines. Best time to go is when it's not so cold. There are water activities available in the summer.

Stroll around this lake and you may see bald eagles overhead. For sure, you will see the unexpected diversity of Des Moines. All ages, ethic groups, singles and families. Very safe.

Beautiful park-like setting easily accessible off Fleur Dr. Three parking areas for convenience. There is a wide biking/walking trail around a very nice sized lake. The bridge across one area is lite up at night and very pretty. Picnic tables and benches are available around lake. Off of south parking lot there is a large movie screen with family films... More

I used to hang out here alot back when a friend of mine lived in town. Not so much anymore. Wonderful place to visit. This last time I was there, I even saw a huge, eagle occupied nest! Well patrolled too. Marcydiner tantrum scale of 5/5-no screaming kids.

If visiting Des Moines and you want a quiet walk, go to Gray's Lake and walk around the lake. It's a little over two miles long and will take about 30-45 minutes. Nice wide walk ways and always has a view of the lake and the DM skyline.

Great place to go to relax. Family and pet friendly. Beautiful views. You can rent paddle boats, canoes and other water items for the lake. They have the life jackets there as well.

We start our ride at Birdland Marina, ride downtown along the river and c ontinue on to Gray's Lake Park. The scenery is nice and the bridge across the lake is fun. I am a paraplegic and must pedal with my hands so most importantly to me is that there is't much to speak of as far as hills. And... More

Love this two mile walk. There is always plenty of people walking. It is safe for families. The paved path is easy for strollers or wheelchairs.

In the middle of the bustle of the City there lays a quaint lil park with a lake and some amazingly beautiful views of the city. Seem to be activities here different times of the year.
