Open to visitors since September 2009, the John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park features artwork by 22 of the world's most celebrated artists.

The 4.4 Acre park, located within a major crossroads of the urban grid, creates a pedestrian friendly entranceway to downtown Des Moines. This accessible setting, coupled with the skilled landscape design and caliber of the art, makes it unlike any other sculpture park in the United States. The Pappajohns' contribution of 28 works for the park is the most significant donation of artwork ever made to the Des Moines Art Center.

The sculpture park features artwork by some of the world's celebrated artists. Guided tours are available but they are not necessary as anyone is welcome to walk through and around the sculptures. It is a nice welcome to downtown Des Moines.

The Sculpture Park is beautifully laid out and maintained, with an eclectic collection of sculptures. There are maps and signs and you can listen to audio descriptions on your cell phone

Fun to take a stroll through the downtown Pappajohn Sculpture Park. Metered parking is available around the park area. In the summer months, food trucks are located in the area. Be sure to look at the placards for info on the artists. There are also several restaurants in the area. And if you're visiting on a Friday around lunchtime, the... More

This is a nice space to take an outdoor break downtown, but the sculpture on display is not compelling enough to make a special stop.

If you are travelling to or through Des Moines this is a must-see! Some very cool artwork and a nice little walk around. A lot of fun on a sunny day. As a bonus there are some great restaurant options nearby (Americana, Proof, Table 39, Magnolia, etc.) As a bonus bonnus... if you're one of the ten people who still... More

This is the definition of accessible art. You walk around and through the various pieces of sculpture on you way to and from lunch, Wellmark or Methodist hospital. Delightful and relaxing stroll.

A very interesting park with unique sculptors. All art prices are presented in an interesting manner. The city has done a wonderful job of creating an attractive park in downtown area for both adults and children.
