One and a half hour tour which gives an excellent tour of the state capital building. Tour guides are knowledgeable and pleasant. Every Iowan should tour this elegant and beautiful capitol building.We were there during legislature holiday, so could enter many offices and learn about the structure and it's use. This was an awesome experience.

We were lucky enough to be there right at the start of the 10:30 a.m. tour, but others joined our tour en-route, so always ask when you enter the building. With a tour, you get to see so much more than on your own. Others...More

In all the rooms where you could enter, staff was very welcoming, explaining a lot. The library was one of the highlights of our trip through ten states!

My husband and I enjoyed visiting this building very much! It is a beautiful place. We discoverd the building by ourselves without a guide. The only disappointment was that on saturdays the Library is closed......

The state capital takes 1/2 hr to 2 hrs depending on how much you read and enjoy the displays. The natural museum in the building next to it takes about equal amount of time. We went with a teenager who was not into it... More

Yes there are steps but it does have handicapped accessibity. It is a bit difficult to get to some places easily. You are unable to go up to the top of the dome as it's 130 steps and no elevator. Saturday is open, but only... More
