This is a hidden gem. It is a place for those who are able to hike up and down. We did a lot of walking off the paths and on the grass. Trees are well labeled and there are some other gardens along the paths. It is a peaceful place that you can not only enjoy the land but also... More

I have been to a couple other arboretums in Iowa so that kind of spoiled this for me, as they are a lot nicer. However, this one was free and I had to pay for the others. I think if they did have people pay like $2.00 and take donations, they could make some improvements like more walking paths, so... More

The Arb is my favorite place in the whole city! I love to walk through the beautiful grounds that feature over 2,000 trees, shrubs and conifers of all sizes. Birds of all kinds call this 14-acre gem home. Stop by anytime from dawn until dusk every single day of the year to wander this well cared for and treasured outdoor... More

Our son took his prom date to the arboretum for pictures. A tribute to the beauty of the place was the fact that there must have been a couple hundred people there. Boys in tuxes, girls in gorgeous dresses and family and friends all posing or taking pix. It was beautiful. Just a wonderful place to spend an hour or... More

Good way to see different species of plants, especially Hostas. Not as pristine and well kept as it has been in the past but still worth a look!

This is a great place to go to take pictures. The scenery is beautiful in the spring and fall. My kids love coming here and walking around, looking at the different trees. If you are in the area, I would recommend stopping by!

I love to walk my dogs here. My favorite time to visit is spring and fall to see all the flowers and fall colors. It's also a nice spot for a picnic, or to relax with a book.

We visited this absolutely beautiful arboretum early on an autumn Sunday morning. What it lacks in size, Bickelhaupt makes up for in the variety of the collection and the obvious care given to the grounds. Garden "rooms" grace the rolling terrain inviting visitors to linger and enjoy the peaceful beauty. Though it's not the easiest place to find, this gem... More
