The modest admission fee grants you access to two exhibits: the permanent African American history exhibit, and the rotating exhibit on some aspect of that history. When I went, the theme of the latter was "migrations." Neither exhibit disappointed. In fact, I was impressed with...More

The museum is large, well put together, and provides a history of African Americans in Iowa before and after the Civil War, with some 21st century displays. Appropriate for children and adults.

A nice little museum that takes you on a walk through the history of African Americans in the US and particularly in the midwest.
