We were there for a wedding and the venue was lovely for the reception. Food was excellent as was the service. We stayed in the old Shearer's accommodation which was cheap at $75 for the night but would never stay there again. The walls are the same from when they were built and the noise of talking and movement coming from the rooms next to and near us kept us awake most of the night, not to mention what sounded like a mouse chewing something. There were no hooks to hang clothes or wet towels and no aircon but a fan so we were pleased it wasn't a hot night as we couldn't have the window open letting mossies in. The amenities however were shared with others but were clean and had lots of hot water.

We visited the Woolshed on the weekend and were surprised to discover that the tour was self guided. We spent approximately two hours and had essentially had the place to ourselves. We did not receive any guidance from anyone during the visit which was a little disappointing. Apparently there is guidance during the week and it may be preferable to visit then.
We timed our visit mid morning and it was particularly hot. It might be better to visit during the morning or later in the afternoon as the buildings could get fairly hot.
It is amazing to see how they lived and worked during the period. The Woolshed could be a great visit but we were a little disappointed.

We had a good morning at the Woolshed complex. We had brunch at the cafe- the breakfast sundae and the pancakes. Service was very efficient, and the food was tasty. I'd highly recommend the sundae.
I had already downloaded the Woolshed's audio tour onto my phone, so after brunch we used that to explore some of the buildings using that as a guide. The segments were short and interesting, telling stories of families, and pointing out features of buildings we would have otherwise missed. The blacksmith and the Boundary Riders Hut were my favourites.

Overall, we spent an enjoyable hour and a half at Jondaryan, could have stayed longer, but we still had a distance to drive.

What a lovely review, thank you. The pancakes are tasty and the audio tour is full of information. Next time you are in the area you may have more time available to spend exploring.

I thought this place with old buildings and history would be a step back in time, but it was marred by the lack of attention to detail having several displays intruded upon by modern junk shoved in indiscriminately. It could have been so much better, but presented as just a big junk yard of neglected rust. The 'famous' Billy Tea and Damper was stale [with margarine] and the tea was as weak as nat's pee. Although staff were friendly, they had little knowledge to explain what the attraction was all about.

Good day Alison, Sorry it took a little while to respond to your report. I am sorry that your visit with us was so disappointing for you. We do take all of these trip advisor reports seriously and I have looked into your report on the tea and damper issue to see what needs to be fixed. Thank you again for your feedback .

We arrived at the woolshed on a Monday after lunch. We were given a map of thr complex and relieved of hard earned money for what turned out to be quite an unimpressive walk around a group of buildings. The interactive buttons in the shearing shed were not working so we basically just wandered around with nothing much to see. The animal nursery consisted of 2 calves, a couple of pigs, goats and a few ducks. I had been expecting to see a working sheep shearing shed and we were not told before we paid, that there was nothing happening during the week. The cafe was not open and we left after about an hour very disappointed. Very overpriced for nothing. The historical museum at Miles is a much better option.

Loved the tour of the farm given by the local historian, he has been there for 41 years and really knows his stuff.

Being the only working woodshed left it's pretty cool. Although we didn't see any wool or sheep shearing, but I think that was the time we were there. We stayed in the little cabin and it was great. No tv remote. The Boy wanted to watch the rugby! TV works just no remote. We had a really good look around and we weren't charged anymore for the privilege. Animals and shed all set up. Looked like you can get married there too. Worth a visit of your in the area.

Note. The cafe/restaurant as shown in the second photo, closes at 4pm. There is a little pub on the corner of the highway and also a service station that does good food

We booked in with our 3 year old twins for a two night stay. Our two night stay turned in to a very disappointing one night stay. When myself & my husband had no sleep, due to mice (yes more than 1), kept getting into bed with us. I have two massive bruises on my shins from flipping out of the bed. We started packing our car at 1am, to prevent from losing more food to the mice.

One of our daughters commented at that she a had a squeaky little mouse snuggle in bed with her. In the morning light we found mice nests under our cottage & a mouse bait/trap.

Don't get me wrong, I understand that being in a rural area there are going to be mice, but as a place for accommodation they should be doing more to keep them outside of the cottages.

When we went to reception to advise them we were checking out a day early due to mice in our beds, they looked at us, as though we didn't know what we were on about. That was until we advised we had photos of a mouse, droppings & a video, they then quickly agreed to refund our money. However, only for one night.

We wanted our girls to have a new experience, but this was not what we expected at all. After all this the girls wanted to go see the animal nursery, which they let us through free of charge (how generous), even this was disappointing, the girls kept asking us where all the animals were, we had two very disappointed 3 year olds.

We had an absolute ball here. We were able to go back in time with the beautiful restored buildings. Watched the skills of the blacksmiths, sheep shearers, the whip makers, the steam engineers, the sheep dogs and much more. All at prices that didn’t break the bank. We had such an awesome time.

I agree with many, what a let down, should say run down, the exhibit/s and signage are second rate, many display signs are so faded and some are just stuck to glass with Blu-Tack, how amateurish. The museum grounds (if you could call it that) are untidy and dangerous, we came across some rotten timber on the ground with 2 inch rusty nails facing upward, just waiting to impale an unsuspecting visitor.
It is a shame, but being run by only a local shire council seemingly without the necessary funds and expertise may explain it.
Someone here reported that there is a great cook house, balderdash, it was filthy and just with a single basic BBQ and a dusty electric griddle complete with cobwebs. There was a fire pit but this was littered and untidy. However the Jondaryan woolshed complex has such great potential, loved the history, but needs to be much better cared for and professionally presented. Something else we noted, the place was nearly devoid of visitors, and the camping area deserted,"maybe the word has got around" you could have fired a cannon and not hit anybody.
Jondaryan needs help to emulate the wonderful "Stockman's Hall of Fame" but I guess it all comes down to big dollars, such a shame.

Hi Richard, thank you for your feedback. We are disappointed that you didn’t enjoy your visit and take your feedback on board with the view of continuous improvement. We understand that you did chat with our team onsite about the barbeque which had just been used by a visiting group and not cleaned. Although we respectfully asked that visitors who use the shared facilities clean up after themselves, this doesn’t always happen, and our team acted immediately to rectify this issue. If you would have been willing to discuss some of your other concerns, we could have acted where required and provided you with informed advice. For your information, we are currently in the process of updating our signage and undertaking improvements and upgrades across the grounds including to our animal nursery, gardens, shaded areas, camp kitchen and more. Because our area is experiencing an unprecedented drought and is under strict water restrictions, this is having an impact on the overall look of our grounds, like it is with the entire region. With regards to the operation of the Jondaryan Woolshed, although owned by the Toowoomba Regional Council it operates as a separate entity. The vast landscape of our venue spans 150 acres and even during our peak times where we welcome in excess of 1,000 visitors, it still feels very spacious (although we do not operate any cannons). Lastly, we take the safety of our visitors very seriously and are not aware of any safety issues around the grounds where there is permitted access to visitors. We wish you would have alerted and discussed any safety concerns with us during your visit so we could have responded promptly.
