The cellar door is beautiful with fabulous staff. The wines are amazing and very reasonably priced. This tasting is $10 per person and the tastings are generous and we were lucky to taste many wines. We bought wine as well as it was so delicious to have at home. This is one of the best tastings in the McLaren Vale region we have done. Do your self a favour and then go and have lunch at the Current Shed next door. This is a very special experience. Enjoy fabulous wine tasting and great food next door. Perfect day out.

Carlos the server from El Salvador but with a clear Aussie accent is both knowledgeable and friendly. Without overpowering his knowledge of volcanic soils (of which he has samples to show) he will patiently explain the unique terroir of Schottesbrooke wines!
He is very generous with his pours and is a terrific conversationalist. The surf chaser labels are unique and the cellar guard Alfie (Labrador) was a welcome experience. Certainly worth a visit if you like terroir centric wines that are reasonably priced. Try the Grenache Rose …love the balance …

This winery and cellar door always offers such a consistent and personal tasting experience. with great wine quality, interesting varietal styles and price range. Carlos was our host and his wine knowledge and relaxed approach made the experience even more memorable. This winery is a hidden gem McLaren Vale, with a traditional approach yet still able to offer most of the best vale wines n the area.

From booking over the phone to arriving and tasting some wines, everything has been so easy. the pickers hut was awesome. Private but you didn’t feel isolated and purchasing the bbq packs was amazing even catered for dietary requirements. Super impressed we lit the fire and was cozy, plenty of space for the little people to run and play.

Covid has changed so many things. It's no longer possible to do eight cellar doors in a day. So you have to chose carefully.
In my working life as a wine retailer, wholesaler, consultant and tragic I have always loved McLaren Vale, Shottesbrooke has always been a favourite through my friendship with the founder and the value of his wines. They were always so easy to recommend.
Nowadays it's the next generation and the value is possibly even greater. Apart from the wine the other gem is the Cellar Door manager, Carlos Escobar. In the 100s I've visited around the world I've only met one better [and he was in the Hunter Valley, in his eighties]

My husband, 2 young kids and dog visited Shottesbrooke today because we have loved their Pinot Noir and Sparkling Red previously bought from the bottlo. The cellar door did not disappoint. The warm welcome for our dog, and speed at which they set up the sandpit with toys for our kids won us over immediately.
Shottesbrooke wines are brilliant both because they taste amazing, but also because they are extremely affordable. There was no hesitation to let us sample the less affordable options too. Michelle and Chloe were professional, but also very friendly and personable. A stunning setting for a sunny afternoon. We will be back.

We now live in Tasmania but have only recently moved from our home on the Fleurieu, SA. We ordered 2 dozen different wines from Shottesbrooke as we love SA wines and Tasmanian wine is very expensive. They arrived promptly via Australia Post, we tried one of the cheaper ones and it was fantastic. I'm not sure how long these will last in our household (probably not long) but we will definitely will be reordering. Thank you and we'll done on your recent win at the Sydney Easter Show.

This winery is a little out of the way but it is indeed a hidden gem! Toby and Michelle tended to our every need and made us feel so welcome that it was like visiting friends. They obviously enjoy their jobs and this showed through in every area of our visit. Their knowledge of wine is extensive and the wines themselves were excellent. We had heard about their gourmet ‘toasties’ and we’re not disappointed. They were delicious, made with sour dough bread with delicious fillings (mushroom, feta and bocconcini... ham and cheese....beef brisket) costing $12. They also have a ham and cheese option for kids, costing $10. It was such a nice change from the meat and cheese platters served elsewhere. They had a large table inside in the air conditioned tasting room and tables outside under umbrellas. They will allow you to have a picnic in their grounds with your own food if you buy their wines....a great idea. You should not miss out on the experience of visiting this winery if you’re in McLarenVale. We had a wonderful time, coming away with boxes of wine and delicate monogrammed wine glasses. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

We had another wonderful day at The Pickers Hut at Shottesbrooke Winery. It is ideal for a small gathering and the children live it as well. The open fireplace keeps the area toasty warm on a co day. The wine tasting is wonderful and we never find it hard to purchase a few wines. Good time guaranteed.

I rented the Pickers Hut for a small group on Sunday and was very impressed with the stunning space and service provided. Perfect spot for to enjoy a long lunch with friends (and wine too!). The fireplace, vineyard views and friendly faces behind the bar made it a great day!

Hello, we will be visiting your winery in March/ April and just wondering if you have a restaurant, cafe or picnic table? It is absortuely no problem if you don't, I know there are plenty of places we will find something to eat.
We are looking forward to our visit to McLaren Vale.

Hi there Lenore,
Shottesbrooke does have a private picnic area you can book (the Picker's Hut), or alternatively there are tables and chairs located both inside the cellar door, or outside in the courtyard area (pending weather) that you can use.
Unfortunately there is no cafe or restaurant on site, but you are very welcome to BYO a picnic and enjoy the garden.
And as a third option, our sister restaurant, The Currant Shed is very close by, and I can highly recommend it for a nice relaxed lunch.
We look forward to welcoming you when you are visiting here!
Safe travels,
Kylie @ Shottesbrooke
