Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We could walk there from place we stayed – Waves & Wildlife cottages. The surf was a bit rough due to the very high winds, however great to just walk along, particularly navigating the rocks and cave to get to the beach. There is a café nearby which was closed in August and a toilet nearby for use. Worth a visit however not as exciting as advertised

Stokes Beach was recommended to me by the Rental Car employee, and it was an excellent tip!
Took the North Coast Road, which is unsealed so take your time - watch out for Wildlife!
You have to enter the beach by climbing through boulders, on the right hand side of the rockpool beach is a yellow sign. Gets narrow at one point, but the views on ‘the other side’ are so worth it.
It’s September so not really beachy weather, but enjoyed the walk along the beach.

this places is best visited in low tide so that you can walk through the tunnel and limestone boulders to reach the hidden beach on the other side

once done, return back to car park and walk towards where the campers are and look for koalas at the eucalyptus trees. i found 4, with one mom and joey.

Unfortunately we went on a rainy day, but having been many times before it was still of interest to our French friends who wondered why they were scrambling through rocks and sand to get to this hidden beach. On a sunny day it is perfection. Luckily the Cafe in the car park was a haven on such a miserable day.

Not sure how this one made into the best beach really. We made a 1 hour drive from the place we stayed. Was really disappointed. For firsts, The waves were strong, so my kid couldn’t play. There is only one restaurant nearby which was heavily crowded as there were only few restaurants in few km radius. There is a toilet with recycled water. No shower facilities. It was a below average beach. There is a lot of beautiful beaches in and around Australia. This is definitely not the one. I wouldn’t recommend this as a mandatory site to see.

Great drive here and good CAFE ROCKPOOL. Good food .Wine expensive.. Beach is full of seabirds and DO NOT MISS drive to small carpark and walk to beach to right where you will see a sign on rocks to" beach." You will go through amazing caves /rock tuunnel to next southern beach. A real spinout. Just do it!

We travelled to Stokes Bay at the end of the day on the Saturday of the Queen's Birthday long weekend 2020. We walked down through the rocks/tunnels/caves and because the tide was coming in, we did not see much of the beach (we will be back to explore anothe day!). Undaunted we sat on some rocks to watch the sunset and had drinks and nibbles until some rain chased us back to the barbecue/picnic shed facing the sea. We then ate and drank out of the rain and witnessed a beautiful sunset and were also thrilled by a dolphin playing in the bay (we were too slow to capture him/her by camera). It was a perfect end to our day which involved flying in a four-seater Piper Cherokee from Aldinga aerodrome to Kingscote Airport with beautiful views of the island and Backstairs Passage. We wil be back!!

It's a good beach no doubt but not one of the beat beaches in the world like the NYT says. Not even the best beach on the north part of KI. If you have limited time then I'd skip this beach. Those aside it is a cool beach. The walk through the caves was long and fun. The beach itself is nice, but when you have so many great ones on KI it's a let down. It would be hard to lug all your stuff from the parking lot to the beach and the rip tides are strong there. Its more of a beach to walk around not really swim and the water felt extra cold despite being about 28degC outside. If you make the trip watch out for the way Google maps take you. It will take you down a dirt road which is supposed to be faster but because we had just a sedan we had to drive pretty slow and it was much longer. Took almost 25 mins more. There is a way to get there fully on paved road so just find that ahead of time.

What a cool part of Kangaroo Island 🏝🦘
The drive here was scenic and once we arrived we absorbed every part of this beautiful beach. We ate at the Rock Pool Cafe, climbed up over the hill and watched as a group of people raced into the water to swim with dolphins 🐬 We walked through the rocks and took some great photos. Only a handful of homes here. It would be such a peaceful and scenic place to live.

After parking your car in the car park take one of the well worn paths to the right and make your way to the sandy beach. You have to walk and dodge some huge rocks and some are quite tight gaps to get through. Once on the beach there is so much to explore. There is a rock pool that had lots of fish and baby shrimp in it, a large sandy beach to walk along and some amazing rock formations. We saw signs of crabs and star fish as we walked the length of the beach and back. There are signs warning of a large rip along a section of the beach and there are no lifeguards so if you are not a swimmer this is not a place to start. There are public toilets near the car park and there is a cafe at the car park, but that was closed when we visited, check their website or facebook page for opening hours.
