Can't say enough about the warm welcome Paul and his family gave us. It was my daughter's dream to hold a koala and Paul made sure to make it happen. All the animals are very well taken care of and are part of their family. I can't say enough about this unforgettable experience.

Yesterday I went to Paul's Place. It was amazing!! A lot of wildlife of Australia witch you can see, touch, feed and even hold! Like a Koala, lizards, a snake and different birds. Don't forget the Kangaroos!
Paul gave a tour around the place and you can really see that he loves the animals and has a lot of knowledge about them. Great sense of humor too! So much opportunities to make pictures!
I will never forget this place!

Paul's place was just amazing. I got to cuddle with a koala, snuggle and feed kangaroos, hold a snake, big birds and so on; definitely unforgettable. Paul was hilarious, laughed my head off and we had a really nice group too. Animals there are taken care of beautifully and with love. Don't miss this place!

We had so many great experiences on Kangaroo Island but this was the most enjoyable by far. Paul is funny and incredibly patient. The rescue animals and birds appear well cared for and happy to engage for some grain or an almond.
Paul is very informative and this is such a great way to better understand how the animals are adapted to their environment - no question is too silly or too explicit (how do male kangaroos cope with all that bouncing!!)
Kangaroos, koala, echidna, kookaburra and other birds, python, lizards, peacocks, goat and more. Hands on or just watch - no pressure. Never thought my mum would hold a koala!!
Lots of interaction, lots of photos and so much fun.
Thank you so much for a wonderful visit.
Phone or email Paul's Place to arrange a visit. You will not regret it x

Paul runs the Waves and Wildlife cottages at Stokes Bay and this is his other occupation. We were lucky to get to this place because the winter weather had made it inaccessible - he has a lot of animals that he rescues - everything from chickens, peacocks, guinea fowl, geese, parrots, cockatoos, kangaroos, koala, horses, lizards, snakes and lovely views overlooking the bay. Wonderful place working on a shoestring so please make a donation if you are a guest at the cottages and are invited to visit - only 4 kms from the cottages and easily located on Stokes Rd and near the bushland garden. Very interactive and friendly animals and creatures - thank you Paul

This place is a gem, and is not to be missed if you visit Kangaroo Island. While technically "not open," if you contact them by email you can arrange a tour.
This is basically a retirement home for old, injured, orphaned or otherwise unfit-for-the-wild animals. They do some rehab and re-homing, but a lot of the animals are there forever.
It's a truly wonderful place. Paul and his family are lovely people, and clearly adore the animals - though Paul will gruffly mutter about the inconveniently increasing numbers, but it could not be more clear how much he loves his farm. He's a riot, and will have you chuckling in the first few minutes, through the barely-controlled chaos of the enclosures, where you can't do anything but laugh as a dozen different species beg for a handful of oats.
By the time you've gotten done hugging the hand-raised koala who loves to snuggle, pet a dozen kangaroos, acted as a perch for half a dozen different large birds, cuddled the python, maybe hand fed an owl or two, scratched the camel between the ears, and seen what love and trust has been regained by a few abused animals he's taken in... You'll never want to leave.
Don't miss this place. In a year of travel around the world, it's one of our favorite spots we visited.

Visiting Paul's Place was the best thing we did on Kangaroo Island - we had the most authentic wildlife experiences here than anywhere else on the island - the level of access to the wildlife was unbelievable and we left grinning from ear to ear.
Technically the wildlife sanctuary was closed when we visited in May, though we called and asked to be shown around anyway. Paul was super lovely and arranged a private tour for us. We cuddled a koala, let a beautiful Olive python wrap itself around our neck, and spent time in the bird enclosure where exotic birds ate almonds off our heads!!
This was a really hands on and interactive experience - very authentic and real and literally the best thing we did on Kangaroo Island. Fantastic for all ages. We stayed at Paul's cottages during our time (Waves & Wildlife) and highly recommend them for accommodation as well.

Paul's place is an amazing, hands on, animal exposure experience, suitable for all ages. I think I saw and touched more animals on that one day then I have over my entire life. Most of the animals are indigenous to Australia, and some to KI. Guaranteed to, if not laugh, make you smile. This is the second time I have been on the tour, and I would do it again.

Paul's place is truly one of a kind! I wish them all the luck to be able to reopen because it's the visitors that are really missing out on this amazing experience. It all really starts with Paul -- what a super fun and nice guy whose love for the animals is so endearing. As a generally skiddish person around animals, Paul made me super comfortable and I had a blast! My husband and mother-in-law both agreed this was hands-down the best day we had in our 2.5 week trip to Australia. We hand fed kangaroos and emus, held koalas, owls, cockatoos, parrots, lizards, and snakes. And we were so comfortable -- we spent as much time with the animals as we wanted and learned a ton! It was not rushed and not at all a "toursity" type experience. It was akin to visiting our friend Paul at his farm. We met his family as well and they were super sweet. We highly recommend folks coming to KI connect with Paul to see if he is available for a private tour, because it is completely worth it!

Hello Katja,
A couple of years ago I visited your place with my 2 adult daughters & boyfriend from Germany, and we absolutely fell in love with it! You have such an amazing little oasis going there, something very unique and special!
We loved the interaction with the animals, and Paul made us laugh the whole time we were there!
Now my brother & his family is coming out from France, and we are going over tom K.I. from 01.11.-04.11.
Naturally I want to bring them to your place as well, but I did hear, much to my disbelief, that you weren't open for a while.
I hope you have been able to re open, as I know my family would love your place just as much as I do.
Can you pls let me know, when you are open, so that we can work our plans around your times.
We are all from Germany, but my brother & his family live in France, I live in Hallett Cove.
The kids are 17,14&11, and they would never ever forget the hours we would - hopefully- spend at your amazing place.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Cheers
Astrid

This place was closed more than 1 year ago ... It is not operating currently.
Hello! My fiance and I are visiting Kangaroo Island Feb 28th till March 3rd as part of our tour all the way from Canada. We've been told not to miss Paul's place, and were wondering if you've got any information about your re-opening? Thank you!!!

Kangaroo Island, Australia
Hi Alexis, Thank you so much for your query. Sorry for the late response - we are not very computer savvy :-) When we reopen is sadly totally out of our hands. Occasionally Paul has started doing small tours when he has the time, (we are out working a lot at the moment so it is unfortunately not often possible), but if you contact us direct the dates/times may be workable. If not, Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park and Raptor Domain are open daily. Warm regards, Katja

Hi - I am planning a visit around Easter of 2015. Will Paul's place be open? How soon do I need to notifiy with an exact time and date?

Kangaroo Island, Australia
Hi Jessica,
Thank you so much for your enquiry. Unless all fails and we are forced to close permanently we are hoping to be open again in February sometime – we are just waiting, (and waiting), for a meeting to sort this out. At this stage we are not sure of opening times as we will most likely reduce them. Please feel free to contact us closer to the date and we will be able to give you all the correct information as at the moment it is out of our control. Hope to see you then.
Warm regards,
Paul and Katja

La strada per arrivarci e' asfaltata?

Kangaroo Island, Australia
Hi Paolo, The Stokes Bay road is bitumen but our driveway is 2km of dirt road and quite 'bumpy', any car is fine but for some it is an experience. We are currently closed so if you are looking at visiting in the future, please get in touch prior to ensure we are open before you travel out this way. Otherwise Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park is open daily. Warm regards, Paul, Katja, Poppy, Sunny and the animals :-)

hi, your website says temporarily closed.. Is this true? We are coming to KI on 27th December, till 2nd Jan and were hoping to visit. Is it still open and do we need to book?
Kai L
Kangaroo Island, Australia
Hi Lyn, I am so sorry but we are closed at the moment and very sad about it, even the animals wonder what no one is here at 12pm. Hopefully we will be open again in a few weeks but costs have become out of our reach unless we open full time in which case we could not do what we do anymore anyway and what is unique about this place would be lost or hugely increase prices, (which we do not want to do as it is nice to give every visitor the opportunity to hold the animals and every child to have a ponyride). Currently trying to work this out but it is taking time. Many apologies also, we did not see this query until now. Have a great holiday, Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park and Raptor Domain are open daily. Warm regards, Paul, Katja, kids and animals
