Visited the mansion as part of Madison's "candlelight tour of homes". The mansion is stunning. The staff did an amazing job of explaining the history of every room. I was awestruck. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Madison.

It's a beautiful mansion and a must-see on your Madison itinerary. I have been to Madison many times and finally took the tour. The tour is about an hour long but didn't feel rushed. Jerry was very informative and answered all my questions...he really knows the history of the house and family. We will definitely do the tour again when... More

Lovely home and well maintained. The guide was very knowledgeable and kept everyone informed and entertained during the hour or so tour. The spiral staircase was awesome to see. The state owes much to Mr. Lanier -- why didn't they teach us this in history classes over the years?

We toured this mansion as part of the Madison Christmas Candlelight Tour. It is conveniently located across the street from the Madison Visitor's Center. We're sure the mansion is worth a tour anytime of the year, but when decorated for the Christmas season, it is a must see. Dating from 1844, it has been beautifully restored to its Victorian glory... We had been to Madison over a dozen times, and had walked through the grounds of the Lanier Mansion on several of our visits - but had not previously taken the time to tour the inside of the house... I am glad we finally did! We visited as part of a "Nights before Christmas" Holiday home tour on Thanksgiving Weekend... More

We enjoyed the tour of the Lanier mansion. Amazing two feet deep interior walls - wow. The curving staircase is quite magnificent. The curved door under the staircase was interesting, too. The tour was very informative. Mr. Lanier was responsible for loaning money to Indiana to outfit troops during the civil war. He was also a major investor in Indiana's... More

This was a pleasant and interesting glimpse into the past, but I'd wished we could have also seen the kitchen and servant quarters that were under renovation.

This is a beautiful home. From the outside, it appears to be a two-story house, however, the stairway will lead you to a third floor. The tour guide was very informative. The rooms were beautifully restored. I want to return when the servants quarters are completed.

This was a nice tour and a beautiful preserved building. It has remained in pristine shape forever. We purchased tickets at the visitor center across the street, $10 for adults, $5 for under 17 yr. We received almost a private tour. My family and one other couple. Very knowledgeable guide. He took his time and answered all our questions. My... More
