Actually saw the Lanier Home many years ago. The antiques are beautiful and the grounds overlooking the Ohio are special. The grounds Sometimes get flooded but it is by the Ohio and that goes with the territory. Usually spring floods and I would say they...More

Our 2 docents were friendly and knowledgeable. The home is nicely restored and has an interesting history. The spiral staircase is quite grand and the home has a number of interesting architectural details.

The house is lovely and nicely restored. The docents are well informed. The history is interesting and well researched. The significance of the family to Madison is primary, though short lived. Definitely worth a visit. Look into the behind-the-scenes tour they do once per month.

I've been visiting the Lanier mansion for many years, and am more impressed each time I come. They are trying to return it to its original style and decor, as much as possible. They have just recently renovated and opened up the kitchen, informal dining...More

Took a tour of the Lanier Mansion. Very interesting and our tour guide was excellent and knew the history of the home. Nice to see how things were done back in the 1800's. Furniture was that of the 1800's. Would recommend seeing.

Lanier is a great older home to tour. Kids enjoy it as well. I took my parents and they enjoyed walking around the garden also. It is a bonus that it is right on the river.
