We were here to hike the Cliffty Falls trails. But, downtown Madison, offered a variety of shops, eateries, and some beautiful architecture. We especially enjoyed the river walk area and the historic homes.

Enjoyed an afternoon walking the sidewalks of one of America's most beautiful small towns. Love the feel of this old town with eastern city vibe. Check out the coffee shops, ice cream and yogurt shops, bakery, and great antique shops. Some great restaurants too.

The old buildings and houses are gorgeous. A must for people who enjoy visiting towns with old homes. The picture is of the house my great great grandparents may have lived in the early 1900s

This town lives up to its reputation as the prettiest town in Indiana. The abundance of historic buildings and sites within easy walking distance to each other makes this a great weekend stop. The river walk alone is worth the trip! The streets and sites...More

I'll be perfectly honest. After reading the lower ratings by other reviewers I was a little scared to go. Things must have changed in the last year or so because we loved our time in downtown Madison. Yes there are a couple of stores vacant....More

Sorry, I’m not sure. We were downtown on Monday, of Memorial Weekend. Shops were open then. Maybe if you google the stores.

I am not sure if you can tour courthouse or not. We never asked. I took pictures of exterior. We were too busy enjoying other attractions.
