About
Set in the yards of the Heritage Complex are a number of machinery and wagons, which were used in the region around the turn of the century. Many facets of early pioneer life are to be found at the Complex, including historical hospital and dental machinery and tools. Local Indigenous artefacts are displayed along with photographs and stories. The Heritage Complex is also home to 100 million year old fossils of marine reptiles which were abundant in this area when it was an inland sea. Boulia boasts a Plesiosaur fossil which is 80% complete and is among the world's best discoveries.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The whole display was very informative. The fossils of the plesiosaur were amazing to see. A visit to here is a must if you are in Boulia. Well worth a look.

This museum is outstanding. The marine fossil display is very informative and well done. We've learnt so much about the Eyre Basin and the inland sea.

The Stonehouse is a good example of an early house and with the ceiling missing, you can see the structural roofing elements.

There is a good collection of past era appliances, tools and machines without overwhelming the visitors.

But best of all is the fossil display of past marine animals. A great display and extracted locally.

We did this on a combination ticket with the Min Min Encounter.

Good value.

Definitely a must see when visiting Boulia. The Stone house is full of things from a gone by era. The tour guide knows her stuff here. Walking through the beautiful old home was wonderful. Not clutters with historical artifacts, just set up as if people were still living here. The history behind the building of the home is very interesting. The entry fee is cheap as, however, you not only get to see this amazing home but also all the buildings on this property. Will not break the budget and you will get value for money when visiting here.

Pretty interesting place with a lot of menoribalia from different times. Loved the sea life section the best. Some of the articles make interesting reads.

We did this as part of a ticket deal with the Min Min experience - do this and skip the Min Min.

Apart from the stonehouse (the first house in Boulia?) there is a fantastic collection of plesiosaur fossils collected by a local grazier Doug Suter, a display of old implements and machinery, information on the first inhabitants, militaria and much more.

Easy to spend a couple hours here.

A really well displayed and thought out centre in the outback. What a surprise to find something like this out here. The old stone house is just a part of the complex. Loved the relics of bygone times. The fossil display is fantastic and very informative. Loved wandering around all the old machinery. note they only take cash but it is best done as a package after the MIN MIN lIghts demo and they take eftpos.

An interesting and not often seen historical house. Most houses preserved in Queensland are made from tin or wood.

There is plenty to see in this complex and in Boulia. See the Min Min. Encounter as well. And take a walk around the town.
