If you like Victorian houses, you will love the Howard Steamboat Museum. Located across the street from the Jeff Boat works where they are still churning out large craft for our inland waterways. The annual chautauqua is fun event for the whole family, booths, crafts and food for everyone. A slice of a by-gone era.

This is a neat little museum located on the river in Jeffersonville, Indiana. The yard looks like a graveyard for steamship pieces, but it's cool to see them so close up. The information inside is great if you're interested in the steamboat era.

Thoroughly enjoyed the history and details of America's past through the lens of a Steamboat museum. The staff was knowledgeable on the Howard's history and not just in Jeffersonville but also in our Nation's. Thankfully the Howard family chose to preserve their past for future generations. The best part is how they ate connected to Kokomo, IN where I was... More

This is a wonderful piece of river history. You can have an unguided tour, but I recommend having one of the local volunteers give you a tour. Lots of antiques.

My wife & I visited this place on a free day we had during vacation. We're glad we went! The house is great to see and the tour guide was extremely knowledgable. My favorite part is that they guide you on the first floor, then let you explore on your own...upstairs and on the main level. The house is gorgeous... More

The guide that we had was very knowledgeable about the house, the history of the residents, and the importance of the impact that Howard had on the steamboat industry. The architecture was beautiful, with rooms with stained glass, and 16 different kinds of wood in casework, the main staircase, beautiful pocket doors, and woodwork. I was very glad that I... More

The Museum is small but has a lot of history. The décor is great and lots of original furniture. Loved it!
