Understated tribute to the Crew of the USS Indianapolis. It is sobering to see, especially if you have read "Left For Dead". Thank God for those brave souls who gave their lives to help save our nation from months more war with Japan.

This monument has a personal feel that is fitting for the crew that had a major role in bringing World War 2 to an end. Take time to read the inscriptioins, and it is probably a good idea to check out wikipedia first to understand the plight of the ship and her crew.

I didn't know about this history. A deep respect to all veterans when you learn the horrors of war. It was a beautiful and warm day. we sat in silence and honored those who both lived and died.

Interestingly nice but not a major attraction. If you are on the canal then stop and take a look but if not don't go out of your way unless that is you knew someone affected.

Small, lasting tribute to those who sacrificed for us. Too easy to forget our history as we live in freedom.

located near the canal/riverwalk, this very nice memorial to this cruiser which was sank after it delivered the first nuclear bomb. the names of its crew members, both those that died and survived are listed.

This is such a moving memorial on the canal to honor the men that served on the USS Indianapolis. Those who lost their lives and the few remaining survivors. Read the book and see the movie.

This is a wonderful tribute to those who lost their lives helping to end WW2. I like that it's immediately next to the canal and the cultural trail. Sure, it only takes three minutes to visit, but I enjoy it. I especially like that it's shape is somewhat like a ship at sail on the sea.

Nice break while walking the canal trail. Ship was key in wwII and nice to see a tribute. Recommend both the canal walk and memorial.

Looking at the long list of names makes me appreciate their sacrifice. I have met 2 of the survivors and cannot even begin to comprehend what that experience would have been to them. God Bless them all.
