Grab your bike and get to Fort Harrison. A beautiful place to walk, hike, bike, and picnic. The houses formerly used for officers are now private, but they retained their beauty. It is truly a hidden secret.

This is a great state park. Lots of trails for all ages and abilities. The history of the park is really interesting, be sure to check out the visitor center. Also nice playgrounds & picnic areas.

State park experience without spending a fortune on gas or finding time you don't have. Huge fish in the pond but they are apparently too smart or well fed to bite.

This is a nice park for a day outside with the family. There are hiking trails of varying lengths and degrees of difficulty, fishing, streams to wade in, and places to picnic.

Not really sure about a BBQ. There are places where you can grill and picnic near the pond but as far as bringing your own equipment and setting up a big BBQ...not sure. You will need to call the park.
