Old School. Garfield park is just south of the city off of pleasant run parkway. I am sure it was a great neighborhood many years ago and it appears to be coming back. This area is a big wooded city park one that you would have gone too as a child to learn how to swim or some crafts or... More

I visited the conservatory with my 2 sisters (we are in our early 60's) and we were amazed at how much was packed into this building. We have been to many botanical gardens and conservatory's and thought this one was on the smaller side. While it was true the building was small, the variety and quality of the specimens inside... Love the park. My dogs love the park. The sunken gardens are amazing as is the conservatory. Oldest park in Indianapolis, you can't beat it unless you hate to be outside.

Though on a small scale, the Conservatory houses hundreds of different plants from the world’s tropics. Originally constructed in 1916, and later in1955 replaced with a welded aluminum frame, and further renovated in 1997, it has some rare and well-known and widely grown plants. A few of these are: Allspice tree, Banana ‘Dwarf Cavendish plant, Banyon tree, Bodhi tree, Cacao... More

We came here upon arrival in Indy. It was a good place to get out and stretch, take a little stroll. Suggested donation matches the experience. Pretty & well-kept, but we've been spoiled by conservatories and botanic gardens in Chicago and St. Louis.

This garden is the best kept secret. I bring out of town visitors here and they are always pleasantly surprised. Don't forget to go inside the green house for a tropical experience. The sunken gardens, outdoor, are a perfect place for a picnic. The Garfield area has a very interesting history and the park is the crown on top.

The great place on a Sunny and even a rainly afternoon. The ground crew is there to assist and make your dreams come true. This was 7 years ago and nothing has changed! It is still OUTSTANDING!!

Beautiful exotic plants all year round. But especially nice on a cold winter day. Poinsettias abound among the tropical plants. And there is a darling train going along those cute little houses of a make believe town of yore!

So far, I've acted in two plays in the Garfield Shakespeare Company. This park is like my home. It's beautiful, it's a great hub for the community, and it's timeless. I've driven around it and thought so many times to myself that it's like Indy's version of Central Park. It's big, but not enough to get lost in it. It's... More
