While SpaceQuest was indeed closed in favor of more exhibit space, there's always Indy's first public planetarium, at Butler University's Holcomb Observatory. It's been doing public programs since 1954, and also features public tours of, and viewing with the state's largest telescope. It's where I saw my first planetarium show at age six, launching me into a career in science... More

Yes, this was Indianapolis' only public planetarium, but it closed on Oct. 4. Word is that it will be torn down soon, but nobody gives a reason. This is in the Children's Museum. One of the top rated children's museums in the US. Very interesting range of planetarium shows. Get your free tickets at the beginning of your visit to be sure you get into the show you want.

The SpaceQuest Planetarium is a super aspect of the Children's Museum of Indianapolis. They have shows running throughout the day. The room is cozy and comfortable. The running time of the shows is long enough to learn something new and short enough to keep the attention of children.

this place was perfect for little kids to enjoy and learn about the stars. The kids and myself had a blast and we relaxed under the stars. you should really go some time and take some children to enjoy it along with you.
