Nice stop off the expressway to see what theme is on display

This center is a hub for local artists displays, indiana info and in the winter, the CHRISTMAS STORY is a full blown town with characters and interactive things for the kids.

This place does a lot for the community. Christmas was so much fun for the kids. Looking for something to do in Hammond, they got it.

The Indiana Welcome Center is architecturally interesting...the outside of the building represents the different segments of Indiana from farm land, to steel industry to Lake Michigan. There is a good gift shop and many flyers and brochures of nearby places to visit and as well as other close by counties. The volunteers are cheerful and helpful. The center is clean... More

Visit here every year to get your "A Christmas Story" Annual Exhibit. I hope they always keep up this holiday ritual.

We visited the Center on a Saturday afternoon and enjoyed The Christmas Story activities, displays, and our visit with Santa. It is set up just like the movie and the kids loved the slide. Santa was great and patient with the little ones and the pictures came out nicely. Activities for young and old alike, a shop, snacks, and many... More

Any fans of the Christmas Story movie, this is your stop especially during December. They have props from the movie as well as special visits from the actors.

On the way to Michigan for Thanksgiving, we stopped at this Indiana Welcome Center. First clue that it was some place special was the statue of the little boy with his tongue stuck to the flag pole outside the main entrance. Inside the beautifully designed building was decorated for Christmas. But the special fun was all the things from the... More

This place is the best from November through December when they do a whole dedication to "A Christmas Story". The have ugly lamp contests, mommy's little piggy mashed potato eating contest, Santa visits, snacks, and the whole place is set with up with different scenes from the movie!! So....cool!! And it's free!!!

Super clean facilities! Pleasant employees! Lovely art exhibit of a local artist who works with reclaimed metal from factories. And, a nice shop with 'local' Indiana products. It was a great rest area experience on a hot day!
