As a big James Dean fan, this Museum is the mecca! So many personal belongings of James Dean. From baby clothes to two motocycles from artwork to racing trophies, it's all there! This is a DO NOT MISS attraction! And, a great history of Garfield the Cat too!

I admit it was a last minute decision for my sister, son, and I to stop here and we are glad we did. Though James Dean was before my time, I had heard of him, his career, and tragic death. So it was very interesting to go through the museum and see all the mementos from his life. I have... More

This is a fun place to visit while in town. For a small town there's a lot of history that not many people know about most the stuff has been given to the museum for locals.

My family volunteer at this museum so of course I'm biased. It's quite a neat collection and something nice to see in such a small town.

Plan to visit the museum is you are going to be in Fairmount. For a small town there have been a lot of famous people come from there. James Dean, Jim Davis, creator of Garfield, Phil Jones, Bob Sheets former Director of National Hurricane Center to name a couple.

This is a great little local museum housing what has to be the largest collection of James Dean memorabilia in the world (he was born and partly raised) here) as well as military objects and Items of Jim Davis, the creator of "Garfield" (who is also from the area). There is plenty to see, and the docents are knowledgeable -... More

Though James Dean and I are (were?) fifth cousins---for whatever that's worth---I enjoy this small town museum for the flavor it provides for a life growing up in the mid-west. Sure, the memorabilia for both him and Jim Davis are interesting and worth the visit. But you also get a sense of those just plain folks who didn't become celebrities... More

If you love Garfield or the actor James Dean, this is a must see! The museum has a large collection of Garfield artifacts as Jim Davis was born nearby. The actor James Dean lived (possibly born here) in Fairmount as a child, and the majority of the museum is dedicated to his memory. It includes clothing, a motorcycle, etc., that... More
