The Nature Center has children activities in it, plus a wild bird viewing area with tablets to help you identify the birds by call, markings and size. Just outside the viewing area there are "rescued" birds, who cannot be released to the wild due to injury, but which take part in school nature education programs. e.g. bald eagle, turkey vulture,... We love hiking at Wesselman's in their virgin timber woods. Their animal shelter is family friendly and top notch! The is truly a treasure in the city.

I've loved Wesselman Woods since I was a child, and I've been more times than I can count. However, my last visit was right when they began charging for entry and the experience I had will probably keep me from coming back. I understand the Nature Center needs to be updated so they want to charge for entry to earn... More

I love walking in the woods - when I was kid I spent so many of my Saturdays tramping through the forests down in Georgia. Wesselman is just a short jaunt from work and home, and immediately I'm immersed in the beauty of an old-growth forest. I'm so grateful this little spot of heaven has been preserved.

A great place for a walk among the fall foliage and the old growth forest. A special treat to see a rehabilitating eagle. If we lived closer to Evansville, a membership would make sense. As it is, the one time fee is high, but not prohibitive. November, 2016

Enjoyed the 10K Volkswalk on a chilly but above freezing day. Would NOT recommend if rainy or temps below freezing as walkways are slippery in winter. Looking forward to comparing walk in another season. There is a $5 charge to enter.

My partner and I stopped by just to check it out. We didn't have the time to spend that particular day, but were going to come back another time. The lady at the entrance was incredibly rude to us and kept demanding the money (we just wanted to see the room up front). She didn't make us feel welcome or... More

This nature reserve is a magnificent green space located right in the heart of Evansville, making it a beautiful place to walk and enjoy the many birds and wildlife there. We especially enjoyed our view of the beautiful bald eagle and her trainer. This bald eagle cannot be released back into the wild, and so is slowly being trained to... More

What once were enjoyable trails are now pay-for-fee - $5, 13 and up. That's PER PERSON!!!! I think that is outrageous, and NO, no consideration for seniors - so forget that! Ages 3 to 12 fee is $3. Only children under 3 get in for free! That means, a family with two adults and two children are paying $20 for... More

Hi Suze - Please know that the decision to charge admission was not entered into lightly and was done with much thought. We have options in place that will allow anyone who faces a financial burden to visit to still come, including a family pass which can be checked out from any EVPL with a Evansville Library Card. Charging admission... More

Wesselman Park has been a fun place to go for a long time, and it was a donation based operation as far back as I can remember. Recently there was a charge initiated, I think it was $5.00. This was a low blow for all of the walkers who would use Wesselmanns to exercise and enjoy nature You either pay... More
