Metemora canal days

Enjoyable trip, went on the 10am trip with 4 hour layover. Had fun only downside was the train left on the return trip about 45 minutes late. Partially because some people got on... read more

Round trip ride after a lunch stop. Once again more fun for us with another steam train. This state became the 43rd state in our 50-State Quest done in August of ((2000 not 2016)). We also did 4 other states that year but this review is the train from Connersville to Metamora. What a peaceful ride from the depot through... More

My wife and I took the train ride from Connersville to Metamora and back, with a nice 2 hour layover in Metamora to shop and grab a bite to eat. The grand central station in Connersville where you board, has a nice area that explains the history of the area and trains and a nice little shop to get some... More

I have seen better scenery, but I couldn't pass up a train ride and am glad for it. What I didn't like is that they kept on repeating about the canal boat ride in Metamora, both coming and going, even though the attraction is closed down (possibly for the rest of 2016). Also, I would have preferred visiting Metamora on... More

If you are into trains and railroads this would be a good thing to do. If not ,it'll be a long day especially with small kids. Some people brought toddlers and they were not happy campers due to the train whistle being loud and the movement of the train. The volunteers engineers and the conductor were absolutely wonderful. They were... More

The ride was pretty, the train was having wild west days which was fun. My husband and I have been on a lot of train rides over the years. This is the first that does not have bathrooms on the train. Okay this is a 2 hour ride, right? Into the restrooms at the station we go, what a mess.... More

People of all ages come and ride the train. The train has a loud Whistle. A very loud Whistle. It blows long and loud and proud. Blow Whistle, blow.

Overall, another laaaaaaid-back ride. Interestingly, many of the people who have read my TripAdvisor reviews have been for the French Lick Scenic Railroad, so going on the Whitewater Valley looked to be a good opportunity to share with fellow excursion train riders. I wasn’t disappointed, though please note that while rural Southern Indiana has a rolling and pleasant character it’s... More

Whitewater Valley Railroad utilizes a former New York Central System route and runs along side the historic Whitewater Valley Canal. Some sections of this canal have been restored and offer barge rides to get the feel of the 1830's. The railroad itself is a professional and safe operation and a great way to introduce youngsters to the railroad industry; its... More

Our family (and extended family) had a great time doing the Polar Express. We have done similar rides, even one that is in our own home city, and nothing compares to this experience. The kids (ranging from age 4 to 13) really enjoyed the ride and characters. We would recommend getting there early to find parking and check in.
