Opera

The opera was fatastic. I was so impressed with the talented singers and the music of the orchestra. It was a wonderful performance.

Indiana Music School is one of the best in the country, and the student are enhanced and catapulted by the infrastructure of this Opera House. Really, compatible to major centers in the country, and even to Munich where I attended several opera performances. Here in Bloomington I've attended three, and had not written a review yet; now I'm paying my... More

I'm not sure if this is the same as the IU Auditorium, where we saw Willie Nelson in concert with Merle Haggard. The auditorium was very nice. The lobby was roomy, and they were well-staffed with smiling faces. Everyone we encountered was very professional, helpful and friendly. We were fortunate to have seats in "the pit," which is the first... More

We just saw Barber of Seville at this facility, and loved the performance. And this building is rather unique in style. But it really needs some significant updating. Some features here are rather outdated, and the seats were very uncomfortable. Fortunately, the performance was so good it made us forget these other issues!

This is one of the many things that gives Indiana University's music school the top rating for music schools in the world. This is a great program for the opera students and for the community. High quality opera, sets, facility - and affordable prices (for opera that is - a bit pricey for Bloomington).

You can easily get tickets to some great shows, all professionally done by the Jacobs School of Music students and some pros. Reasonably priced and new shows monthly make this a really good value. Take in a show when you are in Bloomington!

Opera-lovers everywhere should journey to Bloomington Indiana to see and hear wonderful performances of old favorites and innovative works. Indiana University's Musical Arts Center ("MAC") is one of the finest opera venues anywhere. Comparable in size and technical sophistication to New York's famous Metropolitan Opera House, the MAC is a wonderful place for both patrons and performers. The stage sets,... More

The world-class operas with stage settings that draw applause from the audience every performance brings young student artists to the stage who will soon grace the top world stages. The training these students get at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University is revealed by the quality of what we hear and see. Each event leaves you in awe... More

I took my daughter to her first opera here and the seats in the first balcony were amazing and were an excellent price. We will definitely return for another performance in the future.

The Nutcracker (ballet/musical) in December is amazing. We have World renowned opera singers, one in particular that you have to hear is Sylvia McNair -- however, these two examples are just a drop into a five-pound bucket of what IU has to offer... Go to IU.EDU and look up all of the areas of interest - and make a trip... More
