I had played the golf course but never had visited the park. What a wonderful surprise. The McCormick Mansion tour was very interesting. The military tanks and wartime exhibits were well done and informative. The gardens and park were lovely and there was a band concert. We spent over four hours there without even trying. We had a great day!!

This is must see in the Western Suburbs. The gardens are beautiful and relaxing. The tanks are fun for the family and the restaurant is a nice place to relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the view of the flowers.

This museum, historic home and extensive gardens have something for everyone (even picnic and playground equipment for the little ones). We visited in early November and the rose garden still had plenty of blossoms. The foliage and landscaped gardens are beautifully tended. The property (even historic home on first level) is wheel chair accessible. Knowledgeable docents guide the free tours... More

Cantigny is beautiful and a popular spot for photoshoots. There is a $5 parking fee for cars, higher fees for other types of vehicles. There are many different types of wildlife found around the park from squirrels and birds to skunks and wild turkeys. The trees look beautiful in the autumn, and not all flowers are past their prime. Great... More

Lived in the area for years and had never been to Cantigny! That was remedied with a gorgeous fall walk and like 100 pictures. The roses had some life, the mansion was lovely, the idea garden was cute, but best of all--the trees were aglow! Can't wait to go for a nice picnic and stroll...and to see it in spring.

An incredible museum with displays of the 1st division in WW1 to current. Take the time to enjoy the mansion and local grounds.

wow, what a gem in IL! beautiful gardens, great museum and wonderful house. i always tell people to go, hey, it's free and you just pay for parking (usually $5, a bit higher on peak days/events). BUT what a great legacy and gift Robert McCormick has left the people of IL. if you've not gone, please go (although they may... More

The Big Red One musuem is a "one of a kind". If you are a military history buff, you will find the artifacts and the dioramas really interesting. And when you leave, you will have a better appreciation of the sacrifices made by the prior generation of warriors-men and women alike. Not at all like the wimps of today.

It is a great place to visit. Anytime of the year but especially in the late spring and summer when the flowers are in bloom. Also a great place for kids to get a little history about the Big Red 1. The tanks give you a sense of how there size has grown over time. There are walking trails, museums,... More

We are currently staying in the area and have visited Cantigny twice now. It's absolutely beautiful! They have the most spectacular floral gardens and maintain the grounds very well. Currently, they have it decorated for fall with pumpkins, scarecrows and such. They have a nice little gift shop as well with reasonably priced, unique gifts. We really enjoyed it inside.... More
