Hi All, I am looking to do the WCT in July/August 2014. I am now planning on hiking solo but have also been looking at tour companies as an option. Would any of you have opinions either way? Have any of you hiked it alone?...More

I am about to do the WCT for the 5th time in 12 years. I always go northbound. So, yes, I am a fan! Here is why: 1. Camping on the beach! Every night. Fires permitted, even in no-fire season. Bear caches and outhouses are...More

I do not recommend this hike. As a Canadian I am embarrassed by the dilapidated condition of the infrastructure (wooden walk ways, bridges, ladders and cable crossings). Many (especially 1/3 of the walkways) are so dilapidated and treacherous that they are the greatest hazard on the...More

I did this trek years ago, it has always been a special memory for me because the entire trek is unbelievable. The camp spots are all along the coast and facing the pacific. You cannot get a more serene coastal track elsewhere.
