I am a fiercely independent traveler, and avoid tours at all costs, preferring the independence of seeing things my way. However, that being said, I opted for the Sterna evening tour and was more than pleasantly surprised. We had a young, enthusiastic tour guide (just 3 in the tour) who made the sights and history come alive. Some of the more... More

Has to be done but a bit touristy. Drove round and bumped into the same people at each location. Car hire is the less expensive way if 2 or more.

Lots to see, well worth the money. Would definitely recommend doing this tour if you have a day to spare.

Have taken the tour several time and this time always something new experiencing. This time the waterfall was amaizingly great with raibows and all. Thingvellir was Icy and magnificent. Must take this tour when in Iceland

The golden circle route was a great introduction to Iceland's history! The variety of activities and sites ensures that you aren't ever bored but the drive between gives you time to reflect on each so that they don't run together. This is a must do if it's your first time in Iceland!

If you only have a few days in Iceland and you'd like to see the countryside and a few of the acclaimed sites this is a good way to do it. My husband and I tacked on a stop at a thermal spa between the geyser and Thingvellir and we got to soak while the sun went down over a... More

Iceland Horizon was offering a deal for April/May which made it cheaper than the other excursion tours. Also, the group size was smaller, and the tour guide (David) was excellent. Everything we saw on this tour was memorable. Besides the big three (Gullfoss, Geysir, and Thingvellir), we stopped at a small lake in a volcano crater, to pet some Icelandic... More

Golden circle tour with Reykjavik Excursions. The falls were nice. The geyser wasn't particularly active. The restaurant choices were mediocre. The best part was watching the roadside and seeing the Icelandic horses and sheep roaming relatively free.
