We only visited the southern part, the one that is nearby the ring road. If you want a short and nice hiking tour, go from the visitor center to skaftafell. We also went to the glacier viewpoint, but it is not worth the effort. If you want to see a glacier, go to the Svínafellsjökull which is nearby and don't... More

So glad I drove all the way to see Jokulsarlon Lagoon with its mysterious icebergs. And oh so glad that we did the zodiac boat tour and didn't just admire the icebergs from the shoreline. The price for two people wasn't cheap (19,000k) but 100% worth it. Our boat driver/guide was great -- gave us lots of info and really... More

There are few places I have visited in my travels around the world where my breath was taken away! Jokulsarlon is one of them. Your first impression is guaranteed to meet your expectations! Just make sure you reserve a zodiac or duck boat ride well in advance online as they are always completely booked out. Seeing all these beautiful aquamarine... More

This is not to be missed. The ride straight to this glacier lagoon with numerous beautiful icebergs takes 4+ hours, but is so worth it, whether you do it with a tourist company or drive it yourself. I highly recommend taking a boat tour through the lagoon to see the amazing icebergs that surround you in all their various sizes... More

Jökusárlón was my favorite attraction in Iceland. Chunks of ice in blue were floating on the lake that it doesn't even seem like it is on earth. That's why part of the movie interstellar was filmed here.

I had booked the tickets before we left. I was so looking forward to this part of the trip. Unfortunately we had bad weather that day. However, despite the bad weather, we were fully prepared and dressed for it. The boat ride was still on and so were we. The weather did not take away from the beauty in the... More

Jokulsarlon Lagoon is absolutely breathtaking & not to be missed. Apparently, we were there on a day when there was a particularly large amount of ice & it was clear enough to see the summit of Hvannadalshnúkur, the highest peak in Iceland. Book a zodiac tour far in advance or simply enjoy the scenery from shore. Be sure to go... More

There is no way to properly describe this experience. The Breidamerkurjokull tongue of the massive Vatnajokull Glacier has receded causing a massive lagoon to form. At the shore where the glacier meets the lagoon, pieces of the glacier break off and float through the lagoon on the way to the sea. The result is a lagoon full of "calves" slowly... More

Light blue glacier floating there, fantastic and romantic. We went on 13 Aug, when they had a show of fireworks at 11 pm. Unforgettable experience.

This is a spectacular sight. To see so many pieces of a glacier floating in an eerily quiet lagoon is other-worldly. Not to be missed.
