The Bridge between continents is a small footbridge over a major fissure which provides clear evidence of the presence of a diverging plate margin. The bridge was built as a symbol for the connection between Eurasian and North America tectonic plates.

If you do not have the Þingvellir National Park in your itinerary, then you must visit this site which is not too far away from the airport (20 minutes drive). It has free parking available and you only need to walk less than 5 minutes...More

Not a super nice view, but very interesting once you read what is going on beneath your feet! Recommend adding it to your list of things to do.

Try and add this to your visit to the Iceland, great to say you actually stood on two continents:) Situated on the peninsula where the Blue Lagoon is, about 30 mins drive so well worth the detour.

Easy to get to and easy to park. Gives choice to walk the bridge or walk under. People are starting to put locks on the bridge. Nice picture opportunity.

Don't expect spectacular view. It's really narrow rift with a bridge over it. Just enjoy you are one foot in Europe and another in America. The only interesting fact is that rift is spreading 2cm every year. So the bridge will fall evenually. Meh!

We were not allowed to cross the bridge because of the land movement that made it unsafe, but taking pictures was enough for us.

It's not a great wonder of Iceland, but it's a cool location to take a few pictures and walk between the continental plates. Definitely come at an off peak time and hike down into the fissure rather than just cross the bridge. Makes it even...More

A small pull off from the road, a short walk and see the world being pulled in 2 directions, does not look impressive at first until you understand what is actually happening under your feet.

I wouldn't go out of the way to visit this spot. Interesting fact on where you are standing, would have been more convincing if you felt a little earthquake.

Try to go there before (maybe before 10 am) the tour busses show up ... otherwise you will have a tough time to get a photo of only yourselves at the Bridge Between Continents. Definitely worth the stop and take time to explore the land...More

It is on 425, about 10 minutes from the airport. Its a couple miles before the Reykjanes Lighthouse coming from the airport. There is no large landmark. Look for the "points of interest" sign. (The one that sorta looks... More
