This is a nice beach but unfortunately it can get quite messy by those leaving their litter. There are areas where cars should not go but again you get idiots disobeying the rules and acting irresponsibly. Although we live near to it but very rarely...More

We visit around twice a year purely to walk our dogs on the huge expanse of sands here. The gripe we have is the toilet block at the entrance to the beach which are nothing short of DISGUSTING and an embarrassment to the local authority....More

Popped up to the beach on a Sunday afternoon in January for half and hour to give my toddler a run around. Got back to the car and had been given a parking ticket. Couldn’t believe it. Most expensive 30 minutes fresh air ever.

I'm biassed; it's the beach of my childhood. I'm not the only one to love this massive expanse of sand and sea: read Jean Sprackland's book "Strands" which is a captivating account of this beach, its history and environment through a year or beach walking....More

In winter its wide and windswept sands and dunes blow away the winter blues. In spring it holds promise of long summer days and fantastic sunsets. We'll worth a visit.

What a great place to blow away the cobwebs and give you and your dog the chance to stretch your legs. From September to April you can park for free very close to the entry to the beach. The beach stretches towards either Formby or...More
