On the way home from camping we decided to stop into this historical village, 3 adults, 6 kids ($30). It is run by volunteers from the historical society, the ladies were very friendly and informative. The village is only open from 9.30 am every Sunday. We spent 1.5 hours going through all the site. It had plenty of nostalgia, interesting facts and artifacts. There is no particular funding to keep this site going so I think it is a good idea to visit just to fund (entry fee) the importance of keeping our history alive. If you have an elderly grandparent or relative I think they would love to see this attraction as it would remind them of their childhood. A worthwhile visit.

We discovered this historic museum quite by surprise on our travels and we are so glad we did ! My husband and children do not share my love of historical sites and history whatsoever and yet they spent over 90 minutes at this site going through all of the buildings and viewing the collections - we were all absolutely fascinated and amazed.
It comprises 13 buildings. The school and church are in their original positions and the other 11 buildings have been moved to the site from the local district and lovingly restored.
It was amazing to view the small, single room building that once housed eight children and two parents. In addition are photographs of local families from the 19th and early 20th century, one family who boasted 22 surviving children !
They are all full of donated antiques from the area, covering a century of clothing, photographs, utensils and general items, many of which have been catalogued and lovingly restored by the dedicated volunteers who work here tirelessly here to preserve the history and heritage of the area.
I was so impressed with this place I would encourage all travellers to take the time to visit.

We were in the vicinity of this venue only on days when it was not open to visitors; however a phone call to the number shown in the brochure resulted in us being granted a special opportunity to be there whilst some of the volunteers were on site. The hospitality of the volunteers who opened the complex up for us was warm and welcoming, and we were greeted as valuable visitors rather than a nuisance. We had a two hour window of opportunity and we made good use of the whole of that time, with personal guidance through some parts of the village - it was especially appreciated when it came to visiting the main home on site when we were given a 'tour' of the archival of clothing and its storage, as well as the school room which was of real interest to those in the party of five who were associated with education through their time teaching in schools. This is a 'not to miss' opportunity for those in the Scenic Rim area of Queensland.

Having driven past many times we decided to stop in one Sunday. The village is run by a friendly group of volunteers who are all clearly passionate about history of the area. We were lucky enough to have one of the volunteers give us a great personal tour of the Army and Aboriginal display where we learnt so much! The buildings, contents, displays and machinery are quite remarkable. Entry, food and drinks are all cheap making it a great day out for the family or anyone with an interest in history.

Templin Historical Village is an amazing place to visit. You literally step back in time. The buildings are all kept in amazing condition. There is so much to see. I spent several hours there with my husband. To see the way people had to live, learn and work many years ago was amazing. Machinery was in use on the day which was very interesting to watch.
There was a lovely morning tea/lunch of sandwiches, cakes, tea/coffee to purchase as an extremely reasonable price.
The school building was lovely to see and it brought back some memories for my husband. (he is older than me!) My favourite was the buildings which housed all the clothing, furs etc. They are in such good condition. There are even uniforms from the army!
I would recommend this Historical Village for anybody to see. Especially children and young adults. I have been here 3 times now and am sure I will be visiting again.

We visited the open day held on Sunday 28 May. The village is managed completely by volunteers and boasts an array of buildings and sheds, an early settlers hut and a Telecom phone exchange where you can see how a landline telephone call was connected. Each building houses amazing historical displays and some pieces seen nowhere else. A majority of the items were donated by local families and businesses, many of whom still live or operate in the area. The Fashion House takes you back in time to another era. There were a couple of extra displays such as the Aboriginal story telling and artifacts tent and the lady with her oxy-acetylene torch making cutout designs on old spades and tool boxes. The food and coffee were pretty good too. A wonderful day of nostalgia.

The Templin Historical Village has much to see. The treadle organs in the church building are in beautiful condition. The Fashion House is fascinating with so many displays. The people who volunteer here are very hospitable and willing to answer questions. The school house has many items that many from the mid-20th century will remember using.

I called in here while I was in the area and thought it would be interesting to see the nostalgia and learn a little about the area.
wow the volunteers were awesome and the guided tour with the knowledge that they have was a great afternoon history lesson learning so much about how life would have been back in the day.
Was happy to pay the fee as like a donation to help keep this place running as losing this attraction would be sad.

There is so much to see here although it doesn't look that much from the outside. Many wonderful old buildings and for Ladies the House of Fashion is a must. There is plenty of old machinery for the menfolk too, a lot of that is working. The school house too revives school days and children will be amazed by the old desks and sitting arrangements. One could spent all day here.
