We just wanted to drive across the Ohio River. When we got to Shawneetown we noticed it was more of a ghost town. A very interesting place with some interesting history. Lewis and Clark went through the area on their way to the Pacific.

How wonderful that a piece of Southern Illinois history is still standing. It is a shame, however, that more has not been done to restore this place, and protect it from further deterioration.
