About
Summit Estate Wines was founded in 1997 and has been producing wine on-site since 2006. It sits 920m above sea level and grows 17 different varieties of grape on 22 acres. Summit's philosophy is the ongoing pursuit of excellent in its hand-crafted wines. All the red wines are basket pressed and the winery has been awarded 5 stars a number of times. A visit to the Cellar Door is interesting on many levels. Not only can you sample the impressive array of wines, but a visit to the 'Aroma Room' is a delightful sensory. 'La Cave' is an atmospheric maturation room for larger groups or smaller functions. Tours of the whole working winery are available by appointment. Summit Estate holds regular events, the most popular being the annual Winter Solstice.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

One of our favourite Cellar Doors we visited on this trip.
Staff were friendly and helpful, wines were great and our dog was allowed inside with us. Could have easily spent longer here enjoying the wine and the grounds.

This was the second winery we went to and was one of my favourite's.
It was a really good set. I loved the bean bags they had there. It would've been great to be there and be chilling in one drinking some wines with friends.
I bought half a dozen lovely reds from here.
Well worth a visit.

Did wine tasting the lady serving was lovely and knowledgeable about the wines. Nice atmosphere. It cost $7 for the trading and for that you got to choose 5 different winners to try, this was refundable of you bought wine from there. Lots of wines to choose from. There was an option of cheese platter of you wanted to stay longer. Would recommend to visitors to the area.

Very friendly and knowledgeable gentleman host who led us through our very first tasting at a winery ever! My partner and I don't normally drink wine, but have been told that we just haven't found the right one for our palates. We admitted we knew nothing about wine at all, but our host was able to guide us through the different types of wines until we settled on a taste that we both liked. We stayed in Stanthorpe for 10 days, but only visited 3 wineries in total, if other wineries in the area are as well maintained and welcoming as this one, then I feel we chose well. We learnt alot during our taste session and even made a purchase, maybe we can be converted to drink wine afterall. 5 stars to Summit Estate Wines.

We accidentally found our way to this winery, which was a fortunate accident for us indeed.

The wine tasting was led by a very informative gentleman that knew the product. They have an excellent system where you can mark off what you would like to try (up to 7) and you can also tick the wines that you would consider buying.

We worked our way through some whites, then onto the reds and finished with a tawny.

Needless to say we walked away with a good variety to take home with us and share amongst friends (well maybe share!)

This is a lovely winery we visited as part of our search for family friendly wineries in the region.

There is a nice little area with bean bags by the fireplace where the kids can relax with their iPad or your phone while you get to enjoy some wine tasting.

I also like that during the winter months on the weekends they have big bonfires where families are welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy a few glasses a wine on the property.

Nick the staff member on duty was super friendly and extremely knowledgeable about all the wines on offer.

The winery is also dog friendly too!
