Interesting history

For those into local history and architecture, this is worth a short visit. It was built to replicate houses in the Middle East. Enjoyed our time there.

Interesting design. The villa is the tourist information location. Great views on the bluff to see the Mississippi.

Villa Katherine (circa 1900) is reportedly patterned after the Villa ben Abhen in Morocco. After taking in the fabulous exotic architecture (reminiscent of the Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain), the strongest impression of the museum is its relative lack of authentic Middle Eastern furnishings. This museum has so much unrealized potential !!!!!!!! It is well worth the small $3.00 admission... More

We loved going in Villa Kathrine, the courtyard with the pool was our favorite room. So glad it was restored.

The lady at the desk was full of great information on the Villa and the town. Nice view of the river.

An unusual structure for the city of Quincy. No elevator to second level, so its not totally accessible. Would be nicer if there was access to the roof so that we might enjoy the view of the Mississippi River.

This is a neat home to see if in the area. Self guided tours. My wife and I walked through the home in about 15-20 minutes. No one was working there when we got there a different person had stopped to get something and let us in. Would have been nice to hear something about the home and it's history.... More

Quincy doesn't have a lot of tourist attractions. The volunteers are friendly and helpful. The house is beautiful and takes about ten minutes to see. Maybe there is a group discount but $5.00 per person if you are taking a family - pass.

Lovely view of the mighty Mississippi River from the bluff. The Villa Kathrine - or the Castle as it is commonly called - provides a unique part of Quincy IL history with lovely view of a Mediterranean Castle.

It's pretty the center of the house and outside but that it was disappointed by this they had you 2 or three page detailed list that would take you longer to read than it does to go thru it :(
