This is a beautiful "new" covered bridge. I saw no signs to get there. Google Maps did the trick. They may want to minimize traffic in the area. There is another covered bridge in the area--Red Covered Bridge--which I didn't see.

It's nice to see a community that values historical things and this bridge, whole new, exemplifies those values. Nicely done and well protected.

The Capt. Swift Bridge is a local landmark for the Princeton area. Recently rebuilt to original specifications, this is a large bridge designed for heavier traffic. Although not as quaint as the Red Covered Bridge, this large, covered bridge is outstanding as a local historic...More

We visited both of the covered bridges (I hope I uploaded the right photos). They are beautifully maintained and have locations to park and walk through them. Princeton is a great little town that has a true appreciation for history, the arts, and modern times!...More

This bridge is awesome!!! It is rock solid, so well built! Gorgeous wood! The views are beautiful here, with such a nice stream flowing below. Nice parking area, and you can walk down to the water. Good photo ops here!!!

The red covered bridge(also known as the Captain Swift bridge) over Bureau creek is a must for covered bridge fans. Definitely plan a stop on your tour of our lovely historic city. My grandchildren have always loved visiting this site.

Quaint and quiet stop in Princeton, Il. Picturesque with a young girl and her dog fishing on the banks below. Fun to come across on a bike ride. If you are in an auto there is space for you to pull over and enjoy a...More

It's always shocking to find a covered bridge in this day and age. This one is still open for public travel across a small river. For even more fun, park the car and walk across it.

This "modern" two lane wooden bridge was built several years ago, as a relative to the older Red Covered Bridge, a few miles to the north. It is an interesting wooden structure spanning Bureau Creek. It is located west of Princeton, and you'll have to...More
