This museum is packed full of memorabilia from all branches and dates of the US armed forces. There is a striking display of mannekins in different uniforms, and many educational and historic displays. There are many profiles of local heroes. The museum is entirely stocked...More

The great thing about this museum is it has so many uniforms and short bios on local servicemen. This gives a more personal connection to the town that you just don't see in other museums, large or small. They even had a 'short snorter', collection...More

This was in the same building as the Rt.66 hall of fame. A very nice walk through and lots of military uniforms with their history on them.

I probably need to say that I am a member of the museum, even though I live far away, and may be prejudiced since so many friends of my family are represented at the museum (through their service records). Having said that, this is still...More

This isn't the flashiest museum in Pontiac (a little town with a lot of museums!) but it is my favorite. The aura of the reality of war comes through the exhibits in a way that is up close and personal. The docents are actual veterans...More

Came upon this museum while we were driving on old Route 66. Very informed and passionate tour guides. So much to look at, we got there later in the day and didn't have time to see it all.

Completely impressed by the war memorabilia, didn't think I would enjoy it, but ended up being awestruck by it. Loved the wall with all the old newspaper headlines from WWII, so neat to read, not to mention all the uniforms of different eras and branches....More

A nice step back in time for a prior service member. Many items on display, all collected by the local populist. Run by volunteers, I assume most have been in the service. You can also visit the IL Route 66 Museum in the same building....More

Same building as the Route 66 Museum. It was breath taking walking in and seeing all the military uniforms and memorabilia from the wars. I'm a veteran and this museum brought back memories of my military life. You've got to stop in if your in...More

This was an unexpected treat when we visited Pontiac Illinois. The time was very well spent looking at all of the displays and talking with Dave Estes, the son of the founder.
