Crab Orchard has deer, turkeys, coyotes, eagles, orange headed black birds (unbelievable beauty) and the list goes on. The lake has many bays that are hidden from view and you feel like you are in a different place. The lake is not deep and you...More

I come here often for birding and see wildlife in general. I enjoy taking pictures. The trails and roads are great. Most of the people are friendly. This is my favorite place to go and relax a bit.

Every time I go to Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge I almost always see deer. Every once in a while we will see wild turkeys as well. Great place to go camping as well.

Stopped again on our way to Chicago. Not alot of birds yet, except while pelicans, which number in the 100's. A nice place for a quick drive and interested that it use to be a munitions manufacturing area during the war. A nice reuse.

We arrived in Marion around sunset so detoured to Crab Orchard because of the tripadvisor reviews. Very nice short drive, with white-tailed deer everywhere. Next time, we'll do the Causeway route near the water!
