Whilst holidaying in this beautiful town visiting family, we paid a visit to the Harrow Discovery Centre, and in particular the Cricket display in honour of Australia's 1st Aboriginal Test cricketer, and local Johnny Mullagh, and the great Sir Donald Bradman. The discovery centre is very well laid out, and very friendly staff who were on hand to answer any questions. For a small country town the amount of authentic memorabilia and information about Johnny Mullagh is both very respectful, and appropriate. Likewise the display in honour of the Great " Sir Don" is also time well invested and they have some amazing items on display, such as one of the last bats he ever used! For a test cricket fan like myself this was an amazing thing to see! Harrow is a beautiful little town, and this discovery centre is certainly worth the visit!

Beautiful and interesting exhibition that just presents a wonderful story.
Harrow is a small country town leading the way in reconciliation, showing how it is possible for everyone to simply acknowledge the past and embrace a shared history. Staff were friendly and very informative and personable, passionate about the town, and the coffee was great too!

What a delight this village is, with its quaint old houses, a wonderful old pub, a tiny camping ground at the end of the village and especially the Discovery Centre. I am a “cricket widow”, but this centre was so well set out, maintained and presented, I really enjoyed it. It is centred on the first XI cricket team to go to England in the 1860’s, which was an all Aboriginal Team. It has information, photographs and memorabilia on the players, their uniforms, and their achievements in England. There is also a section on Bradman which is changed on a regular basis. The discovery Centre and Harrow is a little gem!

Located in the middle of town directly opposite the hotel, the Centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in Harrow or passing through. In fact you should go out of your way to come here and explore the oldest inland town in Victoria including the Discovery Centre. There are exhibits relating to indigenous heritage, early settlement, wartime history and most particularly the fascinating story of Johnny Mullagh and the Aboriginal cricket team which visited England in 1868. The Centre also encompasses the historic old bank building where you can stand behind the counter. Entry is by donation.

I'm ashamed ... I live within an hour of Harrow. I needed to visit for work ...
A small town with the best visitor centre I have seen. Not overdone, but informative and VERY, VERY well done.
I am not a "notice board" reader, but this place had me intrigued!
There is also a whole room dedicated to Sir Donald Bradman ... complete with his "baggy green".
WELL DONE HARROW ... I will send everyone to you! I am officially OBSESSED!

We were lucky as we visited at a quiet time and received lots of info from the guide, Josie.
We are Cricket-tragics but learnt so much of this the first Australian team to represent in England.
The stories are of course both inspiring and tragic as real History tends to be.
We will definitely go back.
The centre is wheelchair accessible.

Growing up in harrow I've always recommended it to other people as great place to take a leisurely drive through the rolling hills amongst the red gums. Now there is another reason to visit. The harrow discovery centre now houses one of the biggest bradman memorabilia collections in the world. Also of interest is the story of the 1st aboriginal team to your England in the 1800s. TIP: head to the harrow cemetery to pay your respects to one of the cricketers - johnny mullagh

We just spent an afternoon at the unexpectedly informative and friendly Harrow Discovery Centre. We went in to see about the 1868 visit to England by the first aboriginal cricket team. We had some previous idea from reading, but here we learnt much more. It was quite emotional seeing the collection of artefacts and stories, made it so much more ‘human’,
AND we were still on SA time, so accidentally stayed on after closing time. The delightful guide did nothing to hurry us, so we thank him belatedly!
Really worth a visit to this well presented and beautifully maintained centre.

The Harrow Discovery Center is certainly worth visiting as it is an interesting part of Australian History showing the first Aboriginal cricket team to tour England. Although I am not a great cricket fan I really learnt a lot about this special story. Josie made us extremely welcome and her enthusiasm makes the visit really educational. Keep up the great work Harrow and Josie.

It was started as a musuem to honour the trailblazing aboriginal team that toured England in the 1800s. Know it is one of the best places to see Bradman memorabilia. It houses one of the largest Don collections in the world. What a pleasure this place is
