A cute little place for a lunch get together with a friend. Service was fast and friendly. The food is good. Depending on what you order, prices are reasonable. The Lock is located directly behind this cafe and gift shop. Lock 16 is a nice place to visit. There is a mule demonstration on how the barges were pulled through... More

We had a great time and definetly will go again. The only compliant was the parking. You can park at the boat, but they don't tell you that and we parked up the hill like the directions said and didn't feel safe.

Saw the sign on the highway for canal boat in LaSalle as we were headed to Starved Rock. We decided to go to LaSalle and make a day of it. Had pie at the Lock 16 visitor center, and it was so delicious we ordered two pies to go- they actually baked them while we were on canal boat! We... More

Relaxed while listening to the guide tell the history of the I & M canal and boat..No loud motors on this boat. You can read about this adventure but this one you must experience yourself. My granddaughter enjoyed being on the boat and petting the mule. Lots of pictures for my granddaughter (age 6) to look back on when she... More

Friendly, informative and relaxing! They did a great job of circulating 63 people around the boat. The guides respect the historical significance of the area.

Thanks! A tour on the "Volunteer" is definitely relaxing! The boat drifts slowly down the historic I&M Canal as either Moe or Joe, our beloved canal boat mules, pull the boat along the tow path. We take pride in being factual about the history and staying true to the lives of those people tied to the I&M Canal. The 2017... More

We enjoyed our boat ride on the canal. The mule ran away during the preparation so our ride was postponed half an hour. The boat was bought out by a tour bus except for us so it was a bit awkward. The ladies were not friendly and we were very crowded. I suggest that you tell people if a tour... More

Thank you for your feedback and suggestions on TripAdvisor. First, we must apologize that you felt crowded on your LaSalle Canal Boat Tour. Our boat has a 70-passenger capacity, and since there was a large group tour riding at the same time, we could see why your group of 2 guests would feel a bit overwhelmed. We could have rescheduled... More
