I really enjoyed seeing the prison and the short walking tour was good, really wish there was more. But did enjoy what was there.

Stopped as we were staying the night in Joliet. The only area available for access is the parking lot. There are quite a few informational signs to read which was nice. I wish there were tours as there is so much history here. Right now...More

Went here on my birthday weekend, love walking around and taking pictures. Just wish there was a tour we could’ve done to see the inside. There are plaques outside in the parking lot showing what movies/shows were filmed there. Prison break being one of them!

This stop was on our 'To Do' list for our Rte 66 trip. If those walls could talk, was on my mind as we drove around the building. It is formidable in many ways. A monument in American history, documented in numerous movies, but most...More

Inconvenient to get there but well worth it! It's just as eerie as expected. Such a historical site plus we are huge Blues Brothers fans. Needs to be a restored historical site. Fun, interesting site.

This meant nothing to me. My husband watched the Blues Brothers a million years ago and wanted to visit. Nice building though. Would make a great hotel. I suppose it has to be done if travelling on Route 66.

I went there because I did a small tour of almost all Blues Brothers filming locations (just Google for complete movie locations guides and you'll find multiple). This is one of the most famous but hasn't been used as a prison for many years. It...More

Right on the old Route 66 out of Chicago, this place is well worth stopping off at, but it could be so much more... Came here because of the Blues Brothers, the exterior of this historical prison is impressive. Unfortunately it is falling into decay....More

Fans of Prison Break will enjoy seeing the outside of the prison but that is all that is allowed. There are a few informational signs about the the prison's history as well as a bench and picnic table. There are no tours and no trespassing....More
