It's OK

The house is very small, and the tour is very short. They do show you alot of artifacts from the era. Not sure if this would appeal to all types of people.

First of all, I bought the combined ticket for the Dowling House and the Belvedere Mansion. While taking out my credit card, I was told there would be a 3% service charge on my purchase. REALLY! Your credit card charge is just the price of doing business with the general public. The tour consists of one downstairs room fill only... More

Walked by this several times a day. It looked fascinating, but alas, I'll never know because it was NOT open!!!

The tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and gave a good experience. We enjoyed touring an original house. The ghost stories were fun.

Had a great time here seeing the oldest house in Galena. Love the history. I wish houses now a days were built the way houses were built back then. So nice and still in tacked!!

My husband and I went to the Dowling House for the tour, which we were so mad we didn't do, and for the old time photos. The lady was rude, and the pictures were terrible. They were over exposed, several were crooked, and when I got home, thank goodness we got the CD, I had to fix them on my... More

The house is viewable from the street. Lots of parking available on the street during our winter visit.

My husband and I stopped by on Saturday while on our anniversary, hoping to take a tour. The sign on the door said they had tours at 10am on Saturday, and it was 11 and they were closed. I'm not sure if most of the town shuts down during the winter. But there wasn't very much to do while we... More

Stopped by the Dowling house while in town. This is a great display of early American life, well worth the fee and time.
