Just a great lakeside place to visit for swimming, boating, concerts, picnicking, staging a visit to the Northwestern Campus immediately adjacent to the North, and taking in views of Downtown Chicago to the South.

Can't say it is serene location based on the auto traffic. But certainly a nice spot to view the passer bys and lake

Just across Sheridan Road from the Evanston History Center this lovely park is a great place to relax and unwind. Or take a walk. Or just enjoy the view of the Center and the lake and the sounds of lapping waves. No hustle bustle here.

The park was originally part of the Charles G. Dawes estate (which is now the home of the Evanston Historical Society) and it overlooks Lake Michigan. There are numerous events taking place in the park during the summer and it is a very nice place to go for a walk, have a picnic, or go for a swim. The park... More

The Dawes house is not a very easily accessible place, could see lights on inside but no one answers the bell, Must have to call ahead to make an appointment to see inside. Lovely old house, park across the street with lake which is not accessible to general public, only residents. Must pay to walk on the shore which is... More

The park centers around the fountain, which was just renovated last summer. Great place to sit a relax, feed the ducks and geese, people-watch, walk or ride along the path, enjoy a concert or one of the many free events that take place during the summer months. There is an area for picnicking, a dog beach (I believe requires a... More

What could be better?! It's a very nice park with 2 very decent bathroom facilities not far from each other and a snack bar that stays open late. The city offers all sorts of events at Dawes - art fairs and movies are my favorites.

The fountain in this park had been altered and it serves an amazing time for relaxation. And the tiny island in the midst of it is just perfect for ducks and birds sanctuary. Baby ducks are usually seen there at the beginning and middle of summer. Island is not accessible to people but it is terrific viewing area to watch... More

Just love to come to events here, or just sit under a tree by the lagoon to feel the breeze. The Lagoon is called Orrington Lagoon and lots of playgrounds nearby
