We were in Chicago for several days. One day was spent at the lake and the park around Grosse point lighthouse. We love lake Michigan and we love going to lighthouses. So, this was the "almost" the best of both worlds. It is a wonderful...More

The lighthouse is at the end of one of my many walking circuits in Evanston. I have lived here almost 20 years and have yet to go up. I don't even know if it is open to the public for that! Nice to look at...More

Unfortunately, we went on a day the lighthouse wasn't open. That didn't deter us from wandering around the beautiful and historic grounds. It was kind of sad. The lighthouse sits on land that was given to a helpful native American and his heirs into perpetuity,...More

Located above lighthouse beach along the shore of Lake Michigan, adjacent to a lovely mansion that has served as the National Chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity and subsequently as the Evanston Art Center, one can enjoy a cozy "Indian-style Fire Pit" and breathtaking views of...More

Check out this historical lighthouse and the visitor center next to it. There is a great deal of information at the visitor center about the history of the lighthouse. The visitor center itself is a classic piece of building. Also wander around the beach of...More

We couldn't get the lighthouse tour but the nearby beach and surrounding ground/park is worth spending couple of hours. Parking fills up quickly in summer months so we had to find street parking nearby (which wasn't too difficult). Beach is small and has an entry...More

It's a beautiful neighborhood. I just happen to saw the lighthouse and stop by there. It wasn't open but you could go the beach (behind the lighthouse). It is peaceful. There is a small park for kids too.

It's a nice little town to travel to. There is a beach near/behind the lighthouse. The light house wasn't open for the season yet to take the tour. You can get out and walk around near the lighthouse. Hoping to go back to it to...More

Although this light house wasn't open when I got there, just walking on the grounds was beautiful and well kept. I was just visiting the area and wasn't sure about parking so I just parked on the street. I will be sure to return when...More

Yes, there is $5 fee when we visited. It's only open on Sat./Sun. 2-3-4pm. The lighthouse cannot take more than 6 people up there. I am not sure it is still open after September, you need you call to ask. But you can always... More
