About
The Elmhurst History Museum is an award-winning regional history museum founded in 1957 and operated by the City of Elmhurst. The museum engages people with history through its collection, ongoing and changing exhibits, and diverse educational experiences. The Elmhurst History Museum is located in a historically significant landmark known as the Glos Mansion, the former home of Elmhurst's first village president, Henry Glos, and his wife, Lucy. The Elmhurst History Museum also operates the Churchville Schoolhouse, a restored National Register of Historic Places property located on Church Road in Bensenville. The Churchville Schoolhouse provides schoolchildren and groups with an authentic living history experience led by an old-fashioned school marm from the early 1900s (by appointment only).

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Always an interesting exhibit. Came for the Department Store and Charles Schultz a few years ago. In historic building with City of Elmhurst history exhibit always on the 2nd floor. Worth your time.

Stopped in to see the special exhibit of Snoopy/NASA. Nicely set up. Went upstairs to the permanent displays about Elmhurst history and was impressed at the quality of displays. Also had a well produced video on town history. Would have spent more time there but my young children were not quite old enough to appreciate it all. Building, itself, is a beautiful old mansion worth walking around.

I went there to do some genealogic research, not expecting to find anything interesting other than the facts I needed. But the place sucked me in! Spent well over an hour browsing through the exhibits.

Nice small museum near city center. History of area and development of the city. Lots of items from years gone by. Well worth a visit. Plan about one hour.

Nice, small museum. Worth taking a look if you're in the area! Was with friends taking in the sites of downtown Elmhurst and the college campus. Nice area to walk around.

If you are in Elmhurst, this is a place to check out. The surrounding park is beautiful and the suburb actually is a great place to live, raise a family and the schools are phenomenal. The museum adds a little culture to the small city, is quite charming and easy to navigate. I wouldn’t make a special visit here but since we were staying in the area, it was something to do.

The Elmhurst History Museum always has fantastic interactive exhibits. There is a great new one on the history of Elmhurst, and the rotating exhibits have covered topics from Candy to Marion Mahony Griffin. Always worth an hour visit. Enjoyable every time we've visited.
