I came to Busse to participate in the Margarita Madness 5k. The walk took us through some of the trails and near some of the water. It was absolutely beautiful!! This is a wonderful area to take a walk or go on a picnic. Many...More

It is refreshing to find a nature trail that has beauty and a mix of nature. Great running track. It has people on it. So, if there were issues, someone would be close by. However, it was not packed.

There are several bridges. There are a few boardwalks through swampy areas. The trails are open only to foot traffic. There are many, or very many, benches throughout to stop to enjoy a nice view. I saw 4 deer, there are plenty of deer to...More

Was looking for somewhere different to kayak and was told about Busse Woods with 460 acres of water. Could not believe the size, was not just a lake. You have a lot of options of which way to go and how far you want to...More

Wow! I loved walking this expansive trail system. It's well-maintained, well-marked, and has plenty of free parking. There are also restrooms along the trails. It was busy with walkers, runners, bicyclists, and roller-bladers, but we didn't feel crowded, even with all the activity. It's such...More

The greater Chicago area has many "Forest Preserves." This one is readily accessible to highways and major roads and on a rainy, dreary, November day was a great spot of fall foliage. The drive through the park passes several parking lots and rest areas. There...More

The Busse Woods Trail System is a great example of how government bureaucracy and meddling can ruin a concept. The trail system is (at best) adequate with about 8 miles around the forest preserve. However, it is old and hasn't been updated to accommodate the...More

It is approximately halfway through the woods on Higgins Ave. North of Higgins. Go to the Forest Preserve District of Cook County website: fpdcc. Here is a link to a map: downloads/maps/pdf/bw_trailmap.pdf
