The Lookingglass Theatre Company seeks to redefine the limits of theatrical experience and to make theatre exhilarating, inspirational, and accessible to all.Through theatre, which invites, even demands, interaction with its audience, the company's goal is to fire the imagination with love, to celebrate the human capacity to taste and smell, weep and laugh, create and destroy, and wake up where we first fell --- changed, charged and empowered.

We saw the show 'Life Sucks' and it was really fun. The stage is small and surrounded on three sides by seats, most on the ground floor. There is a row of seats in the balcony overlooking all the action where we sat and we had a great view.

That was the name of the show we saw at Lookingglass. It didn't suck at all. In fact, it was fabulous!! I've been to most of the theaters in Chicago for one show or another, but had never been to Lookingglass. What a wonderful space. It's small, but well appointed with enough lighting and stage space to give you a... More

Saw "Life Sucks" over the weekend. A modern take on Uncle Vanya. Every character had an important and interesting part. Bit of audience participation as well. I laughed and cried. Everyone can relate to something in this story. Two thumbs WAY up! Really enjoy attending events at Lookingglass.

What an amazing experience we had at the Lookingglass Theater in June. Saw a "Thaddeus and Slocum" and we were thoroughly pulled in. From the direction, the layout of the theater, the set design, the way the audience was a part of the production, the intimacy of the theater, and the unbelievable brilliance of the actors, it was wonderful. I... More

My friend Amber, who works in Chicago theatre, & I attended Lookingglass Theatre's production of THADDEUS AND SLOCUM: A VAUDEVILLE ADVENTURE. This is the world premier. I have attended 4 other productions here and all have been 1st rate. The subject matter of black & white relations was handled in a way that rewards the audience with entertainment & history... We've been subscribers for a couple of years now, so I suppose I'm overdue to write this... we've come here with friends, with my parents, with our kids (ages 10 & 8), and on our own, and we have always enjoyed the work Lookingglass does. This company is massively creative, quirky, talented, professional, and fun. (not all shows are suitable... More

While I typically might associate this theatre with tourist-oriented productions and, hence, we had not tried it to date, we really enjoyed the theatre's debut production of Thadeus & Slocum. If you're from out of town, the production does have a Chicago context with the story set in the just after the turn of the last century in Chicago. The... More

My wife and I enjoyed every moment of our visit to Lookingglass Theatre Co. The theatre is a really intimate space set on two levels with seating forming three sides of a square round a projected stage. We attended an amazing production of Lorca's Blood Wedding. The play consists of three acts and the first two acts were performed on... More

Treasure Island and Lookingglass were AMAZING. The theater was so intimate and there was not a bad view in the house. The balcony seats were probably a bit better but I couldn't find any available for any of the shows so they must sell out quickly. For Treasure Island, the boat was built into the set and there were many... More
