The Lookingglass Theatre Company seeks to redefine the limits of theatrical experience and to make theatre exhilarating, inspirational, and accessible to all.Through theatre, which invites, even demands, interaction with its audience, the company's goal is to fire the imagination with love, to celebrate the human capacity to taste and smell, weep and laugh, create and destroy, and wake up where we first fell --- changed, charged and empowered.

I saw Hard Times at Lookingglass, it was amazing. The acting was wonderful and the characters were all distinct and specific. The design was simple and well executed. Love the venue as well, beautiful building. There's not a bad seat in the house.

We visit Chicago from the east coast a few times a year to attend Lyric Opera and it's always a treat when our schedule overlaps with a performance at Lookinglass. The repertory company is terrific and they also collaborate with wonderfully innovative groups like Manual...More

The choreography of the acrobatics fit in perfectly with the plot. A lot of really cool artistic decisions.

The performance was very faithful to the original book. Therefore it is a bit long, but that is Dickens. All characters were well developed and the acting is very solid. The opening circus' scene is absolutely great! It captured perfectly Dickens' intent, the dichotomy of...More

Classic tale of the excesses of capitalism. Greed, power, and self-interest seeks to trample human dignity. Workers fight back and win!

Moby Dick was incredible - the acting, ship, the rigging, the sirens -- it was an exhilarating adventure. Every show we have had the privilege of seeing at LGT is always worth even a 2nd visit. Live theatre is especially incredible when every seat in...More

Whenever I'm in Chicago (2-3x/year) I always look to see what is playing at the Lookingglass Theatre. I've never been disappointed. Most recently I saw Moby Dick. This was a revival of an original production. The set, staging, and acting were excellent. The price was...More
