Every time we travel to Chicago we attend mass on Saturday. They offer 2 masses on Saturday to make it so easy to attend.

I love stopping by Holy Name Cathedral for a little quiet time....it is open all day, unlike some local churches. A break from shopping, sightseeing, or work, it is an oasis!

Beautiful and historic Catholic cathedral that has a "tree of life" motif as seen in the bronze entry doors as well as the ceiling and altar inside. Although flash is prohibited, if you have a good enough CMOS sensor or higher ISO, you may be able to take decent enough pictures inside.

The Cathedral was decorated beautifully for the holidays. There is a great variety of masses to choose from each daily if you want to attend mass. You can also just go to Holy Name Cathedral to pray. or light a candle.

Notice the bronze doors as you enter, then loot up to see the Resurrection Cross. The stillness and the the beauty centers oneself. Note the Profit Elijah receiving sustenance from an Angel. Listen to the wonderful organ and study the galeros, bishop tasseled hats and understand there symbolism. Go outside and find where bullets hit near the Cathedral's cornerstone during... More
