It is a modernist building dating back to 1968! It is elegant and beautiful in its simple style! :-)

Stumbled upon this nice building on my way to Navy Pier. It's very impressive and it's definitely a city mark during night. Great position, facing Lake Michigan. I am sure the views inside are breathtaking.

Having my office at Lake Point Tower was one of the best times of my career. We strung 7 apartments together and shared a floor with Marlo Thomas, Phil Donohue and Alice Cooper! What an eclectic combo! This building Was heavily influenced by the Mies Van Der Rohe school of architecture but not one of his. It has been a... More

I visited this place during "Open House Chicago". The garden park terrace on the parking garage roof was open to public viewing. It is located on the third floor level. This is a wonderful place. Look at the photos to see what this hidden garden and woodland spot is like. Enjoy... and plan to visit if this place is open... More

Lake shore drive is the main thoroughfare along the lake that connects south Chicago with the north suburbs eventually it goes south to Indiana and north to Wisconsin. This tower was the only building that was constructed east of the highway. They then decided to keep the land close to the lake for parks which I am glad they did.... More

We lived at LPT in the 1990's and enjoyed every minute of it. They views are fabulous as there are no other tall building directly next to it. It is the only building on the lake side of LSD. Most of the building is high enough to avoid the street noise. It's a perfect vantage point for the July 4th... More

Just an incredible view - worth it just to have a drink at the restaurant on the top floor, or better yet, dinner!

I enjoy the design of this building. It was built in 1968 and at the time was the tallest block of flats in the world. Its shape is clearly a forerunner of the modern architectural craze of avoiding straight lines and anything that looks like a perpendicular, and cladding everything in functional or non-functional glass. I imagine the curves also... More

Since its the only Tall building stand on teh Lake Shore, has made it stand out by the lake. However also feel like kind of awkward, when its alone standing by the lake. I am wondering why the tower is here by itself? and what kind of Urban strategy of it? Hopefully, they wont build more follow by this. Otherwise... More

Staying in Streeterville

Neighbourhood Profile
Streeterville
Streeterville is where visitors head for play at Navy Pier, a pseudo amusement park and development of restaurants, shops, rides, and other activities. You’ll find lots of action and excitement on the docks. Along the pier, you’ll see the statue of the captain for whom Streeterville is named. While you enjoy your fair share of sightseeing at the pier, you can also visit other popular attractions there such as the Chicago Children’s Museum and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Off the pier you’ll find more restaurants from low-cost pubs to high-end establishments. Arts and culture aficionados should be sure not to miss the Museum of Contemporary Art.
