Really a spectacular selling-point for Chicago. On other occasions I've gotten the pleasure of running the trail, though this time I just had the pleasure of walking along it. We enjoyed a gorgeous sunset over the lake as we walked north along the river to...More

I love riding the lake, but super important to get out there early, if you want a congestion-free trail to ride. Some parts ( near beaches are more congested than others) but still nice smooth ride for the most part.

Shared by runners, walkers and cyclists is eighteen miles or relatively flat road that's really quite busy, you have to keep your eyes open and your wits about you, so there are no accidents. The view is spectacular!

Walking long Lake Michigan is really refreshing. On this trip I walked from Navy Pier to Soldier Field. It was cool (high 50s F) and partly cloudy. Great views of the Lake, Grant Park, skyscrapers in the distance, and planes departing from O'Hare and arriving...More

The view over Lake Michigan was spectacular. We were amazed at the amount of people skating, jogging, cycling and walking on the lakeside trail, but I suppose it was a Sunday. We hired bikes near Navy Pier - be aware that if you hire for...More

You can pick this up and drop off it at any spot on the trail. It's great to be near the Lake and have it shared with all persons!

Lake Michigan is beautiful, and the Lakeshore Trail lets you visit hundreds of beautiful places that are next to it. On our visit to Chicago, we didn't explore the full length of it - that would take days or weeks! But the downtown parys are...More

Its so much to do on a hot day. Swim, volleyball, ride bikes, read on the sand, or just go for a walk.

Just avoid in the summertime all day because people walk and ride their bikes like buffoons. Otherwise, excellent.

There is a bike rental concession located in Millenium Park right off of Randolph. It is about a block from the lakefront path. There are numerous places to rent the Divvy bikes, but they do not include helmets.
