We visited in winter, so there as no water in the fountain, but it was still interesting to stand between the two pillars and watch the changing faces and scenes.

My grandsons consider this one of the best places when they visit Chicago...and it's free to everyone, though only the brave get really wet...wait for the surprise.

On a mild December day we took a friend who was visiting Chicago for the first time to view the fountain. I'm guessing the water is turned off when temps get too cold so what you see is an open plaza between the two video...More

I'll never forget the first time I saw Crown Fountain, in 2007. A friend and I went on a very impromptu trip to Chicago- we had about $150 between us, and no place to stay- that's another story! We had no idea what Crown Fountain...More

Fun place for kids and big kids to splash around especially when it's hot! Water spouts from the "mouths" on the massive glass brick walls. Great place to sit and watch the fun - or join in!!

A good place for kids to splash around in the water. The glass block sculptures are cool. Faces appear on the glass blocks and water spits out of the mouths. Watch out!

Great fun, particularly in the summer! Come and frolic in the water or have a seat and enjoy the revelry.

Crown Fountain is not a swimming pool. It never gets deeper than your ankle. Nobody changes into bathing suits. They wade and kick and splash and little ones think it's heaven. Kick off your shoes and join the fun

The fountain's water feature operates from mid-spring thru' till mid-fall... so I guess it just depends on the weather in any particular year. Mid-fall is so ambiguous!!
