The 31st street beach is a nice lake beach. Clean and well staffed with decent facilities. The lifeguards are very attentive (almost overly so, but I respect that) and plentiful. Nearby is a very well done playground for when the kids are beached out. Note: bring chairs and shelter/umbrellas as there were none for rent. Lastly, that view!

i brought my 15 year old daughter and 19 year old nephew and rented a 2 person jetski for me and my daughter, and a single person for my nephew. It was the BEST thing we've ever done in the city! And we've been to every tourist attraction in Chicago! Alex made sure we were comfortable and in control before he... More

We wanted a day at the beach and this place was recommended. We were lucky to find parking as son as we pulled in. The beach free more crowded as the day went on. Plenty of sites to see. There was also a great view of the skyline. The lifeguards would not let you have any flotation devices nor could... More

View of downtown are spectacular. If you come here on Saturday or Sunday after 10am you won't find parking around. You would have to park on the other side of the highway. If you plan to sail that day make sure you return for your car before it gets dark and wild in this part of the city...it is not... More

My wife and I took the kids to the 31st Street Beach over the weekend and had a fine experience. The view is great... probably the best part of being here is seeing the downtown skyline soar over the tree line. The water was freezing so we didn't do much swimming despite the temperatures being in the 90s. The beach... More

There isn't room for more than 20-30 cars in the parking lot. Parking costs are $1/hour on weekdays & $2/ hour on weekends. But, once we got settled we were pleased! the view is beautiful. The water, the boats, & the skyline backdrop are all fantastic! The beach is pretty clean, so we weren't afraid to get our toes in... More

Parking is a nightmare if you don't get there early. Very limited parking. We had a family cookout near the beach. It was a really good day. The weather was perfect, the water was nice. There was live music at the concession stand.

31st street beach is one of the many places from where you can get a great view of the Chicago skyline. Its a great place to spend a Sunday evening during summer.

The facilities have improved, better with spider control in 2014. Still no safety ladders on the docks. Had my bike locked up on the bike rack, someone stole my back tire. Chicago marinas are still overpriced relative to Wisconsin, Indiana and Michigan. 31st Street was about 50% capacity in 2014, not sure if the staff can handle more boats. The... More

31st Street Harbor is located right next to 31st Street Beach and the two worlds couldn't be more different. During the summer the Harbor is filled with boaters drawn to the harbors modern features, secured slips, enclosed parking and landscaped waterfront. The harbor is filled mostly small to midsize power boaters and slipside parties are frequent which at times do... More
